Charging the Battery Pack
  • Attach the battery pack by aligning it and sliding until it clicks.
  • Connect the AC adapter to the DC terminal.
  • Plug the power into the AC outlet. The charging lamp blinks during charging and goes out when finished.
Grip Adjustment
  • Flip the grip belt, adjust its length, and fasten it securely.
Using the Hand Strap
  • Loop the hand strap around your wrist.
Inserting an SD Card
  • Close the LCD monitor.
  • Open the slot cover.
  • Insert the SD card with the label facing outward.
Clock Setting
  • Open the LCD monitor.
  • Select "YES" to set the date and time.
  • Use the +/- buttons and ZOOM/SELECT lever to set the date and time.
  • Select the region and press OK.
Changing the Display Language
  • Press MENU, select "DISPLAY SETTINGS", then "LANGUAGE", and choose the desired language.
Holding this Unit
  • Keep elbows close to sides to prevent camera shake.
Tripod Mounting
  • Ensure the tripod mounting screw is properly fastened.
  • Set "DIS" to "OFF" when using a tripod.
Taking Videos in Auto Mode
  • Open the LCD monitor.
  • Check if the recording mode is Auto.
  • Press the START button to begin recording, and press again to stop.
Manual Recording
  • Select Manual recording mode.
  • Press the START button to begin recording, and press again to stop.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
Battery Pack
Unable to turn on the power when using the battery pack. Recharge the battery pack. If the terminal is dirty, wipe it with a cotton swab. Use only JVC battery packs.
Short usage time even after charging. Battery deterioration; replace the battery pack.
Unable to charge the battery pack. Ensure the terminal is clean. Use only original battery packs.
The remaining battery display is not correct. Remaining battery power may not be displayed when the AC adapter is connected or due to prolonged use in extreme temperatures or repeated charging.
Recording
Recording cannot be performed. Set to the recording mode.
Recording stops automatically. Recording stops after 12 consecutive hours. Turn off and on again. It may also stop if the unit overheats.
The focus is not adjusted automatically. Adjust focus manually, especially in dark or low-contrast scenes. Wipe the lens with a cleaning cloth. Cancel manual focus in the menu.
The zoom does not work. Zoom operation is unavailable during time-lapse recording or when the image stabilizer is active. Use digital zoom by setting it.
Card
Cannot insert the SD card. Ensure it's inserted in the correct direction.
Unable to copy to SD card. Format the card if it was used on other devices.
Playback
Sound or video is interrupted. Playback interruption between scenes is not a malfunction.
The same image is displayed for a long time. SD card may be damaged or have reading difficulties. Try to play back as much as possible or execute formatting.
The motion is choppy. SD card may be damaged or have reading difficulties. Try to play back as much as possible or execute formatting.
Cannot find a recorded file. Cancel date search functions.
No date/time display. Set the date/time.
Images are projected vertically on the TV. Adjust the TV's screen.
The image displayed on TV is too small. Set appropriately.
Unable to delete file. Protected files cannot be deleted. Release protection first.
PC
Unable to copy files to the PC's HDD. Connect the USB cable. Ensure "Everio MediaBrowser" is installed. Ensure sufficient free space on PC's HDD.
Unable to copy files to DVD with a PC. A recordable DVD drive is required.
Cannot upload the file to YouTube. Create a YouTube account.
Screen/Image
The LCD monitor is difficult to see. May be difficult to see in bright areas like direct sunlight.
A band or ball of bright light appears on the LCD monitor. Change unit's direction to avoid direct light source. This is not a malfunction.
The recorded subject is too dark. Use backlight compensation when the background is bright.
The recorded subject is too bright. Adjust backlight compensation.
The color looks strange. Wait for natural colors to be achieved; white balance may need time to adjust.
Other Problems
The unit operates slowly when switching the power on or off. Copy all videos to PC and erase files from the unit, especially if there are many recorded files.
The image is grainy. Occurs when using digital zoom as the image is enlarged digitally.
The unit heats up. This is not a malfunction; it may become warm with prolonged use.
Make a backup of important recorded data. Copy important recorded data to DVD or other media. JVC is not responsible for lost data.
Error Message?
CHECK LENS COVER Open the lens cover.
COMMUNICATION ERROR Reconnect USB cable. Turn units on/off. Reattach battery.
FORMAT ERROR! Check operating procedure. Turn unit off and on again.
MEMORY CARD ERROR! Turn unit off and on again. Remove/re-insert SD card. Clean SD card terminals. Back up files and format if problem persists.
NOT FORMATTED Select "OK", then "YES" on the "DO YOU WANT TO FORMAT?" screen.
RECORDING FAILURE Turn unit off and on again.
VIDEO MANAGEMENT FILE IS DAMAGED, RECOVERY IS REQUIRED TO RECORD/PLAYBACK, RECOVER? Select to recover.
UNSUPPORTED SCENE! Use files recorded with this unit. Files from other devices may not play.
THIS FILE IS PROTECTED Switch off the protect function.
CHECK CARD'S WRITE PROTECTION SWITCH Set the write protect switch to off.
INSUFFICIENT AVAILABLE SPACE Delete files, move files to PC, or replace SD card.
MAXIMUM QUANTITY RECORDING FOLDERS/FILES HAS BEEN REACHED Move files to PC or format SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
NUMBER OF FOLDERS OVERFLOW Move files to PC or format SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
FILE QUANTITY LIMIT EXCEEDED Move files to PC or format SD card with "FILE + MANAGEMENT NO".
