Getting Started

  • Charge the battery pack using the AC adapter (page 5).
  • Insert an SD card (page 6).
  • Set the clock (page 7).

Recording Video

  • Ensure the mode is set to Video and Intelligent Auto (i.A.) (page 8).
  • Press the START/STOP button to begin recording and press it again to stop (page 8).
  • You can also tap REC on the touch screen to record (page 8).

Recording Still Images

  • Ensure the mode is set to Still Image (page 9).
  • Press the SNAPSHOT button halfway to focus, then fully to take the picture (page 9).

Playback

  • Select the video or still image mode (page 9).
  • Tap PLAY to enter playback mode (page 9).
  • Tap on the desired file to play it back (page 9).
  • You can also play back on TV using HDMI or AV cables (page 10).

Copying Files

  • Install Everio MediaBrowser software on your PC (pages 12-13).
  • Connect the camera to the PC and follow the on-screen instructions for backup, disc creation, or uploading (pages 14-16).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause/Solution
Unit does not function properly. 1. Refer to the "Troubleshooting" section in the "Detailed User Guide" (http://manual3.jvckenwood.com/index.html/).
2. Electrostatic discharge, external noise and interference may prevent proper function. Reset the unit: Turn off power, remove and reattach AC adapter and battery pack.
3. If the problem persists, consult a JVC dealer or service center.
Battery Pack The supplied battery is a lithium-ion battery.
Hazards: Do not burn, short-circuit terminals, disassemble, or expose to high temperatures. Use only specified chargers.
To prolong life: Avoid shock, charge within temperature range, store in cool/dry place, maintain 30% charge if stored long-term.
Recording Medium Issues Follow guidelines to prevent corruption: Do not bend, drop, apply pressure, or expose to water. Avoid static electricity/electrical noise. Do not remove battery/AC adapter during operation. Keep away from magnetic fields and high temperatures/humidity. Do not touch metal parts.
Formatting/erasing only changes file administration; data is not completely erased. For complete erasure, use specialized software or physically destroy the medium.
Data may become unreadable if battery, AC adapter, or SD card is removed while access lamp is lit.
LCD Monitor Issues DO NOT push strongly or apply shocks to the LCD monitor. Do not place the camcorder with the LCD monitor facing down.
To prolong life, avoid rubbing with coarse cloth.
Pixel variations (bright/dark spots) are normal and will not be recorded.
