JVC warrants this product for 1 year for parts and 90 days for labor, covering defects in materials and workmanship.

  • Basic Operations: Turn the unit on/off, initial setup, basic playback, resuming playback, various speed playback, and locating scenes/songs.
  • Advanced Operations: Play from specific positions, change playback order, repeat playback (current selection, all tracks, A-B repeat), adjust language, sound, and scene angles.
  • Special Picture/Sound Effects: Zoom in on pictures, adjust picture character (VFP), and simulate surround sound (3D PHONIC).
  • MP3 Disc Playback: Play MP3 files, select groups and tracks, repeat playback, and direct selection.
  • Changing Initial Settings: Set menu language, audio language, subtitle language, on-screen language, monitor type, picture source, screen saver, and parental lock.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Troubleshooting Likely Cause Solution
Power does not come on. Power plug is not inserted securely. Plug in securely.
"REGION CODE ERROR!" is shown on the TV screen. Region code of the inserted disc does not match the unit. Check the region code of the disc printed on the disc jacket.
Operation is not possible. Microcomputer malfunction due to lightning or static electricity. Turn off the power and unplug the power cord, then connect the power cord again.
Moisture condensation caused by a sudden change of temperature or humidity. Turn off the power, then turn it on a few hours later.
The disc does not allow the operation, or an unplayable disc is inserted. Check and replace the disc (see page 2).
[LOCK] is displayed on the display window and the disc tray does not open. The tray lock function is activated. Press while pressing down on the unit in standby mode.
Picture is noisy. The unit is connected to a VCR directly and the copyguard function is activated. Connect the unit so that the picture signal flows directly to the TV.
Picture is distorted when using COMPONENT VIDEO OUT or S-VIDEO output jack(s). Both the component connection and S-video connection are made. Disconnect the unused one.
DVD VIDEO disc playback sound level is lower than TV broadcast sound level. Incorrect D.RANGE CONTROL setting. Set the [D.RANGE CONTROL] preference to [TV MODE] (see page 23).
Analog audio output is distorted. Incorrect OUTPUT LEVEL setting. Set the [OUTPUT LEVEL] preference to [LOW] (see page 23).
Sound is abnormal when DTS-encoded source is played back. Audio equipment lacks DTS decoder. Connect audio equipment with a built-in DTS decoder to the unit.
Playing back a source other than DTS-encoded one. Play back a source other than DTS-encoded one.
MP3: No sound comes out. MP3 disc is recorded with the "packet writing." It cannot be played.
MP3: Files (tracks) are not played in the recorded order. MP3 files are played in alphabetic order. This unit plays the files in the alphabetic order. So, the playback order can vary.
