Basic Operation

Turning on/off: Press the Main power button to turn the TV on. The power lamp turns red (standby) then green (on). To turn off, press the Main power button again; the lamp goes off. For energy saving, turn the main power off if not in use for extended periods.

Remote Control:

  • Turn on from standby: Press the Power button on the remote. The lamp turns from red to green.
  • Turn off to standby: Press the Power button again. The lamp turns from green to red.
  • Choosing a channel: Enter the channel number directly, or use the number buttons (e.g., PR12 by pressing 1 then 2). Use the `0` button repeatedly for EXT terminals or PR 0 (AV).
  • Adjusting volume: Use the `+`/`-` buttons.
  • Watching external devices: Select the appropriate EXT terminal (EXT-1 to EXT-4) or PR 0 (AV) channel using the remote.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Action
The TV cannot be turned on. Insert the plug in an AC socket. Turn the main power on. (See page 6.)
No picture or sound. Check aerial connections. (See page 2.) Choose the correct input mode. (See page 7.) Choose the correct colour system manually. (See page 17.) Did you set the Sleep Timer? (See page 21.)
The TV shuts off automatically. Replace the batteries. (See page 2.) Insert the batteries correctly. (See page 2.) Use the remote control within about 7 metres of the TV.
Inoperable remote control. Are you watching the Teletext screen? None of the Menu operations are possible when viewing a teletext programme. Perform the Menu operation in the TV mode.
MENU cannot be displayed. Adjust COLOUR and BRIGHT. (See page 15.) Choose the correct colour system manually. (See page 17.) The AUTO mode is working. (See page 9.)
Poor colour. Correct the tilted picture. (See page 17.)
The ZOOM mode suddenly changes. Move the components apart until the interference is eliminated. Reposition the aerial.
The picture is tilted. Reposition the aerial. Replace with an aerial with better directionality.
Lines or streaks in picture (interference). Reposition the aerial. Replace with an aerial with better directionality. Check aerial connections. Redirect the aerial. Replace or repair the aerial.
Spots (crosstalk). Is the Blue Back function set to ON? (See page 21.)
Double pictures (ghosts). Disconnect the headphones. Set SPEAKER to ON. (See page 19.)
Snowy pictures (noise). Change STEREO/III to <0xE2><0x8B><0xA1> mode. (See page 18.)
The screen turns blue. Change STEREO/I•ll to the correct mode. (See page 18.)
No sound from the TV's speakers. Tune to a channel that has teletext. (See page 12.) Videotaping teletext is not recommended as it may not record correctly.
No stereo sound. Tune to a channel that has teletext. (See page 12.)
No "SUB-I" or "SUB-II" sound in a multi-sound broadcast.
TELETEXT No teletext reception.
