Basic Operations

Starting to play a disc

Press the SELECT (PLAY) button. For individual track selection, use the number keys or the PREV/NEXT buttons.

Stopping play

Press the (STOP) button to stop play at any time.

Pausing play

Press the II STILL (PAUSE) button to temporarily suspend play. Pressing it again advances frame-by-frame (Video CD only). Press SELECT to resume.

Auto search/Manual search

Press PREV to replay the current track or NEXT to skip to the next track. Use the shuttle dial for fast forward/reverse or frame-by-frame playback.

Slow-motion playback

Press the SLOW button to play in slow-motion. Speeds cycle through 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, Normal.

Using stereo headphones

Connect headphones to the PHONES jack. Volume is fixed.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Possible cause Remedy
Power does not come on. Power plug is disconnected from AC outlet. Firmly connect the plug to AC outlet.
Remote control does not work. The tip of the remote controller is not pointed at the receiving part of the player. Batteries are exhausted. Use the remote control correctly. Replace the batteries with new ones.
No image is displayed on the monitor. The video cable is not connected. The TV is not set in video mode. An incompatible disc is loaded. Firmly connect the cable. Set the TV in video mode. Load a disc compatible with the player.
Playback does not start. Disc is locked. No disc is loaded. Disc is loaded upside down. Unlock the disc. Load a disc. Reload the disc with the label up.
Speaker does not produce sound. Audio cable is not connected. Operation of the external amplifier is incorrect. Firmly connect the cable. Operate the amplifier correctly.
Sound is distorted or noise is generated. Image is garbled. Disc is dirty. Connection is wrong. Wipe the disc surface with a soft cloth. Correctly connect cables.
Sound is intermittent. Image is garbled. Disc is dirty. Disc is scratched. Disc is warped. Wipe the disc surface with a soft cloth. Replace the disc with a new one.
Disc tray does not come out when OPEN/CLOSE button is pressed. Power plug is disconnected from the power outlet. Firmly insert the plug into the outlet.
Operation is not possible. Microcomputer malfunctions due to lightning or static electricity. Turn the power off, then on again.
