Basic Functions

  • Demonstration Mode: Sequentially displays operations, no audio. Can be activated/deactivated.
  • Power On/Off: Use the unit button or remote control's POWER button. System switches to last used source.
  • Standby Mode: Press POWER button to enter standby, clock is displayed.
  • Volume Control: Use VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons on unit or remote. Adjusts in 32 steps.
  • Mute: Temporarily silences audio. Press MUTE again or adjust volume to restore.

Using the CD

  • Loading/Removing Disc: Press 'push open' to open door, place disc label-up, close door.
  • Playing CD: Press PLAY/PAUSE to start, STOP to stop, PLAY/PAUSE to resume.
  • Track Selection: Use search buttons or digit buttons (0-9) plus ENTER.
  • Programming Tracks: Up to 60 tracks can be programmed while stopped.
  • Random Play: Play tracks in random order.
  • Repeat: Repeat current track or all tracks.
  • Intro Scan: Listen to the first 10 seconds of each track.
  • RDS/display/demo: Cycle through display information.

Using the Radio

  • Tuning: Use TUNER/BAND, then search buttons for manual tuning or preset selection.
  • Storing Presets: Store up to 20 FM and 20 AM stations.
  • RDS: Displays station name, program type, and radio text.
  • PTY Search: Automatically tune to stations broadcasting a specific program type.

Using the Cassette

  • Playback: Insert tape, use search buttons to find starting point, press PLAY/PAUSE.
  • Recording: From radio or CD. Use REC button to set standby, then PLAY/PAUSE to start.

Clock/Timer Operation

  • View Clock: Press TIMER SET button.
  • Clock Setting: Set hours and minutes in standby mode using PROGRAM and search buttons.
  • Timer Setting: Set playback/recording start/stop times, source, and volume. Activate/deactivate with TIMER ON/OFF.
  • Sleep Timer: Set a timer to switch to standby after a selected period (up to 90 minutes).

General Information

  • Maintenance: Cleaning cabinet, discs, and heads/tape path.
  • Condensation Caution: Allow unit to acclimatize to temperature changes.

Troubleshooting

  • Resetting Microcomputer: Press and hold button for >2 seconds when TUNER is selected.
  • No Sound: Check connections, volume, source, headphones.
  • CD Player Issues: Check disc, clean, try readable disc.
  • Radio Reception Issues: Tune correctly, adjust antenna, increase distance from other devices.
  • Cassette Deck Issues: Replace tape, clean head, use normal tape, check tape length.
  • Timer/Clock Issues: Set correct time, activate timer, put system in standby.
  • Remote Control Issues: Replace batteries, remove obstacles, get closer to the unit.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No sound AC cord not securely plugged in. Plug in AC cord securely.
VOLUME control set too low. Set the VOLUME control to proper sound level.
Incorrect source selected. Make sure the source is set to the source you wish to operate.
Headphones plug inserted. Pull out the headphones plug from the headphones jack.
Incorrect speaker connections or location. Check the speaker connections and location.
Left and right sound outputs are reversed. Check the speaker connections and location. Check the speaker connections and location.
System displays features automatically. Demo operation is active. Switch off the demo operation.
"NO DISC" is displayed. Disc inserted incorrectly. Insert a disc correctly (label side up).
Disc is dirty. Clean the disc.
Disc is unreadable or new. Use a new or readable disc.
Moisture condensation on lens. Wait until the moisture condensation at the lens has cleared.
AC cord not securely plugged in. Plug in AC cord securely. Plug in AC cord securely.
Noise in radio. Incorrect frequency tuned. Tune to a correct frequency.
FM antenna not properly adjusted. Adjust the direction of the FM antenna.
AM antenna position suboptimal. AM antenna is built in; rotate the system to face a new direction.
Interference from TV or VCR. Increase the distance between the system and TV or VCR.
Cannot record (Cassette deck). Tape is unsuitable or tabs are broken. Replace the tape or cover tabs with adhesive tape.
Dirty tape head. Clean the head.
Incorrect tape type used. Use only NORMAL (IEC I) tape.
Tape too long (over 90 mins). Do not use a cassette with more than 90-minute recording time.
Timer is not working. Clock not set correctly. Set the correct clock.
Timer not activated. Press the TIMER ON/OFF button to switch on the timer.
System not in standby mode. Switch the system to standby mode.
Timer/clock erased. Power interrupted or cord disconnected. Set it again.
Remote control does not function properly. Batteries are dead. Replace the batteries.
Obstacles blocking signal. Remove the obstacles.
Remote control too far or not aimed correctly. Move closer to the system when using the remote control and make sure that you are pointing at unit's remote sensor.
