Basic Operations

Turning on the Unit

Press the Home button button for 1 second.

Adjusting the volume

Press the ▲ or ▼ buttons to adjust volume (0-40). Holding ▲ increases volume continuously.

Touch screen operations

  • Touch: Select an item.
  • Touch and hold: Keep finger on screen until display changes.
  • Flick: Swipe finger left/right to change page, up/down to scroll list.
  • Swipe: Slide finger up/down to scroll screen.

HOME screen descriptions

The HOME screen provides access to most functions. Key elements include:

  • 1: Displays current source control screen.
  • 2: Widgets can be changed by touching ◄/► or flicking.
  • 3: Page indication for widgets.
  • 4: Current source information.
  • 5: Source selection screen.
  • 6: Short-cut playback source icons.
  • 7: Hands Free screen.

Source selection screen descriptions

Displays all playback sources and options.

  • 1: Changes playback source.
  • 2: Changes page by touching ◄/► or flicking.
  • 3: Returns to previous screen.
  • 4: Page indication.
  • 5: SETUP Menu screen.

Select the playback source

From the HOME screen, touch ▲ to select sources like Navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, HD Radio, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, Disc, iPod/iPhone, USB, microSD, Pandora, Spotify, AV-IN, Audio, or Standby.

Put the unit in standby

Touch ▲ on HOME screen, then touch STANDBY.

Customize Short-cut buttons on HOME screen

Touch ▲ on HOME screen, then touch and hold an icon to move it. Drag to desired position.

Popup menu

Press the ⌂ button to display the popup menu. Options include Screen Adjustment, Display OFF, Camera, SETUP, Audio, and USB.

List screen

Common function keys in list screens include List type selection, Music/movie file list, Text scroll, Play, etc. Page scroll and Return options are also available.

Navigation Operation

Press the ▲ button to display the navigation screen. Use the Main Menu to find destinations, view maps, use Apps, or adjust settings.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
About settings
Cannot set up the subwoofer. Set the subwoofer to on. See Speaker/ X’over setup (P.77).
Dual zone function enabled. Set the dual zone function to off. See Zone Control (P.80).
About audio operations
Radio reception is poor. Ensure the antenna is extended and the antenna control wire is connected.
Cannot select a folder. Turn off the random play function.
Cannot perform repeat play during VCD playback. Turn off the PBC function.
The specified disc does not play, but another one plays instead.
Disc is quite dirty. Clean the disc. See Precautions on handling discs (P.4).
Disc is severely scratched. Try another disc instead.
The sound skips when an audio file is being played.
Disc is scratched or dirty. Clean the disc. See Precautions on handling discs (P.4).
Recording condition is bad. Record the file again or use another disc.
Other
Touch Sensor Tone doesn’t sound. The Touch Sensor Tone cannot be output from the preout jack.
Android smartphone operation is slow. Close unnecessary applications. See Caution for Smartphone Users (P.5).
Error Messages
Speaker wiring error. Wire or insulate the speaker cord appropriately and turn the power off and on again.
Hot Error Use the unit again after reducing its temperature.
Mecha Error Eject the disc and try inserting it again. Contact KENWOOD dealer if the problem persists.
Disc Error
Unplayable disc inserted. Change the disc. See Playable Media and Files (P.98).
Read Error Clean the disc. See Precautions on handling discs (P.4).
Region Code Error See Region Codes in the World (P.100) or try another disc.
Error 07–67 Turn the power off and on again. Contact KENWOOD dealer if the message persists.
No Device (USB device) Change the source to any source other than USB/iPod. Connect a USB device and change the source to USB again.
Disconnected (iPod, Bluetooth audio player) Change the source to any source other than iPod/Bluetooth. Connect an iPod/Bluetooth audio player and change the source to iPod/Bluetooth again.
No Media file See Playable Media and Files (P.98) and try another USB device.
USB device over current status detected. Check the USB device. Change the source to any source other than USB. Remove the USB device.
Navigation Error. Please turn on power again later. Turn on power again after warming the car interior.
SiriusXM
Check Tuner Verify that the SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner cable is securely connected.
Subscription Updated - Press Return To Continue Press the control knob to clear the message.
SXM Chan Unavailable
SXM Ch Unsubscribed
SXM Check Antenna Check that an antenna is connected to the SiriusXM tuner. Check antenna for damages.
SXM No Signal Verify that your vehicle is outdoors with a clear view of the sky.
Channel Locked Enter the unlock code. See Parental Control (P.54).
Incorrect Pass Code entered Enter the correct lock code.
