Operating Your Kenwood Kitchen Machine

Before Use: Read instructions carefully, remove packaging and labels. Ensure the power supply matches the machine's requirements.

Safety Precautions: Always switch off and unplug before fitting/removing tools, cleaning, or when leaving unattended. Keep fingers away from moving parts. Never use a damaged machine. Do not let the cord hang where a child could reach it. Do not get the power unit, cord, or plug wet. Never use unauthorized attachments or both outlets simultaneously. Do not exceed maximum capacities. Read attachment safety instructions. Lift with care as the appliance is heavy.

Key Components: Mixer head, attachment outlet, bowl, tool socket, on/off and speed switch, mixer ready indicator light, mixer body, head release lever, K beater, whisk, dough hook, spatula, splashguard, spanner.

Using the Mixer: Lift the head release lever and raise the head. Fit the bowl onto the base, aligning the handle. Lower the head. Plug in; the ready light will glow. Turn the speed switch to the desired setting. To insert a tool, push it up until it stops and turn. To remove a tool, turn and remove.

Important Notes: If the head is raised during operation, the machine stops. To restart, lower the head, turn to off, wait, then re-select speed. The ready light goes out when the head is raised and illuminates when lowered.

Mixing Tools:

  • K beater: For cakes, biscuits, pastry, icing, fillings, éclairs, mashed potato.
  • Whisk: For eggs, cream, batters, meringues, cheesecakes, mousses, soufflés. Do not use for heavy mixtures (e.g., creaming fat and sugar).
  • Dough hook: For yeast mixtures.

Hints: Scrape the bowl with a spatula. Use the fold position (Ω) for slow incorporation. Eggs are best at room temperature. Ensure whisk and bowl are grease-free for egg whites. Use cold ingredients for pastry unless specified. Soften fat and sugar for creaming.

Bread Making Tips: Never exceed maximum capacities. Allow 20-minute rest between loads. If the machine labours, reduce dough quantity. Add liquid first. Scrape dough hook periodically. Observe mixing, especially with varying flour types; no longer than 5 minutes.

Speed Settings: Guidelines provided for K beater, whisk, and dough hook, varying by quantity and ingredients.

Electronic Speed Sensor Control: Maintains speed under different load conditions.

Maximum Capacities: Specified for shortcrust pastry, fruit cake mix, stiff/soft bread dough, and egg whites.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
The whisk or K beater knocks against the bottom of the bowl or isn't reaching the ingredients. Adjust the height using the spanner provided. Unplug, raise head, insert tool, lower head. If adjustment is needed, raise head, remove tool. Whisk/K beater should almost touch the bowl bottom. Use spanner to loosen nut and adjust shaft (anti-clockwise to lower, clockwise to raise). Retighten nut. Reinsert tool and lower head. Repeat as necessary. Dough hook is factory set.
The mixer stops during operation. If power is interrupted, turn speed switch to off, wait a few seconds, then re-select speed. The mixer should resume operating.
