Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause & Solution
Nothing will operate
  • Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker: Replace fuse or reset breaker. Call electrician if problem continues.

Microwave oven will not operate
  • Door not completely closed: Firmly close door.
  • Electronic oven control not set correctly: See "Electronic Oven Control" section.
  • Control Lock set (on some models): See "Control Lock" section.
  • Lower oven self-cleaning (on combination models): Upper oven will not work.
  • Magnetron not working properly: Heat 1 cup (250 mL) cold water for 2 minutes at 100% power. If water doesn't heat, call for service.
Oven makes humming noise Normal, occurs when the transformer in the magnetron cycles on.
Oven door looks wavy Normal, does not affect performance.
Turntable will not operate
  • Turntable not properly in place: Ensure it is correct side up and seated securely on the support.
  • Turntable support not operating properly: Remove, clean support and rollers. Reinstall support and turntable. Place water on turntable and restart. If problem persists, call for service. Do not operate without proper turntable function.
Turntable rotates both directions Normal, depends on motor rotation at cycle start.
Display shows messages
  • Letter followed by a number: Clear display. See "Display(s)". If it reappears, call for service.
Display shows time countdown, but is not operating Timer is in use: See "Timer" section.
Tones are not sounding Tones are disabled: See "Tones" section.
Smoke coming from oven vent during crisping Some smoke is normal during crisping.
Sparking during crisping Normal, occurs as fat burns off from past cooking. Will stop once fat is burned off.
Cooking times seem too long
  • Cooking power not set properly: See "Microwave Cooking Power" in "Microwave Oven Use" section.
  • Large amounts of food: Longer cooking times needed.
  • Incoming voltage less than specified: Have a qualified electrician check the electrical system.
Radio or TV Interference
  • Microwave oven plugged into same outlet: Try a different outlet.
  • Radio/TV receiver near oven: Move receiver away or adjust antenna.
  • Oven door and sealing surfaces are dirty: Ensure they are clean.
