OPERATING YOUR MICROWAVE OVEN

Settings

  • Clock: Set a 12-hour or 24-hour clock.
  • Timer: Enter desired cook time and start. Cook functions can be entered while the timer counts down.
  • Control Lock: Touch and hold Cancel for 3 seconds to prevent unintended starts.
  • Options/Clock: Access 10 settings including Clock & Energy Save, Scrolling Speed, Sound, Language, Auto Vent Fan, Filter Reset, Fan Timer, Light Timer, Demo Mode, and Factory Reset.
  • Vent Fan: Select from various speeds (high to low, off). It turns on automatically as a cooling fan. Set a Vent Timer for 30 minutes.
  • Auto Vent Fan (on some models): Turns on automatically if the range below gets too hot.
  • Dynamic Fan Sensing (on some models): Adjusts fan speed based on range temperature.
  • Light Timer: Set cooktop light to turn on/off at specific times.
  • Filter Reset: Resets filter status after cleaning/replacement.
  • Sound: Turn programming tones and signals on or off.
  • Scroll Speed: Adjust text scroll speed.
  • Demo Mode: Practice controls without turning on the magnetron.
  • Energy Save: Clock turns off in standby mode to conserve energy.
  • Turntable: Can be turned off for manual cooking only.

Cookware and Dinnerware

  • Microwave-Safe: Browning dish, ceramic glass, glass, china, earthenware, melamine, paper towels/plates/napkins, plastic wraps/bags/containers, pottery/clay, silicone bakeware, wax paper.
  • Do Not Use: Metal cookware/bakeware, straw/wicker, gold/silver/pewter, non-approved thermometers/skewers, twist ties, foil liners, staples, objects with gold/silver trim.
  • Test Cookware: Place dish with water in microwave, cook for 1 min at 100%. If dish heats up and water stays cool, do not use.

Microwave Oven Use

  • Manual Cooking/Stage Cooking: Enter cook time and power. Program up to three stages.
  • Sensor Cooking: Oven detects moisture and adjusts time automatically. Ensure oven is plugged in for at least 1 minute. Use microwave-safe dish with loose lid or vented plastic wrap. Wait 30 minutes after convection/grilling before sensor cooking.
  • Doneness: Adjust doneness for auto-cook functions (Normal, More Done, Less Done) within the first 20 seconds.
  • Add More Time: Press 0 to add time after a cycle.
  • Warm Hold: Keeps food warm at 10% power. Do not leave food in oven more than one hour before or after cooking.

Troubleshooting and error codes

If you experience Recommended Solutions
Microwave oven will not operate Check: Household fuse or circuit breaker; Magnetron; Door; Control; Demo Mode.
Arcing in the microwave oven Check: Soil buildup on cavity walls, inlet cover, rack supports, and door frame contact area.
Turntable alternates rotation directions This is normal and depends on motor rotation at the beginning of the cycle.
Display shows messages 'Enter clock' with flashing digits: Power failure, reset clock. Letter followed by a number: Error indicator, call for assistance.
Fan running during cooktop usage This is normal. Cooling fan runs during operation and may also run to cool controls when cooktop is used.
Radio, TV or cordless phone interference Check: Proximity of receiver, soil on door/sealing surfaces, frequency of cordless phones/wireless networks.
