Getting Started with Windows 10

Learn the basics of Windows 10 and start working with it right away. For more information, see the Windows help information.

Windows Account

You must create at least one account (local or Microsoft) to use Windows. Local accounts are device-specific, while Microsoft accounts sync settings across devices.

Switching Accounts

Easily switch between local and Microsoft accounts via Settings > Accounts.

Adding Users

Administrators can add new user accounts for family or other users via Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.

Windows Desktop Overview

Familiarize yourself with the Windows desktop elements including Account, Documents, Pictures, Settings, Power, Start button, Search, Task View, Notification Area, Battery and Network icons, and Action Center.

Using Apps and Control Panel

Open apps via the Start menu or Windows Search. Access Control Panel through the Start menu or Windows Search.

Windows Updates

Windows automatically downloads and installs updates. Manually check for updates via Settings > Update & Security.

Use these Lenovo apps for product information, warranty, hardware scans, settings, and updates.

Connecting to Networks

Connect to wired networks using an Ethernet cable or to Wi-Fi networks through the network icon in the notification area.

Airplane Mode

Toggle Airplane mode on/off via the Action Center.

Novo Button Menu

Access BIOS/UEFI setup, boot device selection, or Windows startup options by pressing the Novo button when the computer is off.

Keyboard Hotkeys

Utilize keyboard hotkeys for quick access to functions like volume control, brightness, and app launching.

Numeric Keypad

Enable/disable the numeric keypad using the NumLock key.
