Warranty Information
Warranty coverage depends on the cause of damage; misuse, accidents, or improper maintenance may result in customer repair costs.
- Replacing Parts (FRU): Ensure the latest BIOS and drivers are installed before replacing any FRUs. If a replacement part does not fix the issue, reinstall the original part and try the other component if applicable (e.g., processor board vs. system board). For devices with multiple parts, replace them one by one to identify the faulty component.
- Hard Disk Drive Replacement: Obtain user approval before formatting or replacing the hard disk drive, and inform the user about potential data loss. Exercise extreme caution during drive operations to prevent data overwriting.
- Safety Notices: Before powering on after replacement, ensure all screws and small parts are in place. Handle batteries with care, do not disassemble, and dispose of them according to regulations. Avoid contact with LCD fluid if the screen breaks. Do not remove protective covers on inverter cards. Be aware that even low-voltage batteries can produce dangerous current. Always turn off the computer, unplug power, and remove the battery before servicing.
- General Safety: Maintain good housekeeping, lift heavy objects safely, and avoid actions that create hazards. Keep toolboxes away from walk areas. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Wear safety glasses when performing hazardous tasks. Reinstall all safety shields and covers before returning the machine.
- Electrical Safety: Use only approved tools. Do not work alone under hazardous conditions. Disconnect all power before performing mechanical inspections or working near power supplies. Unplug the power cord before working on the machine. If working with exposed circuits, ensure another person familiar with power-off controls is present. Use only one hand when working with powered-on equipment.
- ESD Handling: Consider all computer parts with transistors or ICs as ESD-sensitive. Equalize charges by using a grounded wrist strap, work mat, and grounding systems. Keep parts in protective packaging until needed.
- Laser Compliance: Exercise caution with CD-ROM, DVD, or other laser products; do not adjust controls or perform procedures not specified, as this may result in hazardous radiation exposure. Never open these drives.
- RTC Battery: Be aware of the risk of explosion if the backup RTC battery is replaced with an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
- Read This First: Only trained LG personnel should service the computer. Read FRU removal/replacement pages carefully. Use new nylon-coated screws. Be cautious during write operations. Replace FRUs only for the correct mode and verify part numbers. Do not replace a FRU for a single, irreproducible failure. Consider replacing a FRU only when a problem recurs.
