Basic Operations

Playing a Disc (DVD/CD)

  • Insert disc into the tray and close.
  • Press PLAY to start.
  • Use navigation buttons (▲/▼/◄/►) to move between chapters/tracks.
  • Press PAUSE/STEP to pause and resume.
  • Press STOP to end playback.

Playing a Tape (VCR)

  • Insert tape into the VCR slot.
  • Press PLAY to start.
  • Use playback controls (FF, REW, PAUSE, STOP) as needed.
  • AUTO TRACKING adjusts picture quality automatically.

Recording

  • Instant Timer Recording (ITR): Set recording time and press REC/ITR.
  • Timer Recording: Set up to seven timer events using the on-screen menu (date, time, channel, speed).
  • Recording from External Components: Connect component, select input (AV1, AV2, AV3), and press REC/ITR.
  • Copying DVD to VCR: Insert both disc and tape, press REC/ITR.

Settings

  • Clock: Set manually via the menu.
  • Color System: Select PAL, MESECAM, etc.
  • Language: Set menu, audio, and subtitle languages.
  • Progressive Scan: Enable for high-definition TVs.
  • Parental Control (Lock): Set rating and password.

Other Functions

  • DivX VOD: Register to rent/purchase DivX content.
  • Auto Play: DVD disc starts playing automatically upon insertion.
  • Karaoke: Connect microphone and use the karaoke menu.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Cause Correction
No power. The power cord is disconnected. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely.
The power is on, but the DVD player does not work. No disc is inserted. Insert a disc.
No picture. • The TV is not set to receive this unit's signal output.
• The video cable is not connected securely.
• The Progressive Scan is set to "On" on the setup menu but is connected to a standard (analog) television.
• Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV so the picture from the this unit appears on the TV screen.
• Connect the video cable into the jacks securely.
• Set Progressive Scan to "Off" (see page 17).
No sound. • The equipment connected with the audio cable is not set to receive DVD signal output.
• The audio cables are not connected securely.
• The power of the equipment connected with the audio cable is turned off.
• The Audio option is set to the wrong position.
• Select the correct input mode of the audio receiver so you can listen to the sound from the this unit.
• Connect the audio cable into the jacks securely.
• Turn on the equipment connected with the audio cable.
• Set the Audio option to the correct position, then turn on the DVD player again by pressing POWER.
The picture is poor. • The disc is dirty.
• The TV channels are not tuned in properly.
• An unplayable disc is inserted.
• The disc is placed upside down.
• The disc is not placed within the guide.
• Clean the disc.
Check tuning, carry out tuning again.
• Insert a playable disc. (Check the disc type and Regional code.)
• Place the disc with the playback side down.
• Place the disc on the disc tray correctly inside the guide.
The DVD player does not start playback. • The disc is dirty.
• The Rating level is set.
• Clean the disc.
• Cancel the Rating function or change the rating level.
The remote control does not work properly. • There is an obstacle in the path of the remote control and this unit.
• The batteries in the remote control are exhausted.
• Remove the obstacle.
• Replace the batteries with new ones.
Video tape cannot be inserted. Is the cassette compartment empty? Eject the tape in.
No Hi-Fi sound Audio mode is not set properly. Select "STEREO" by repeatedly pressing "AUDIO" on the remote control.
