Basic Operation

VCR Operation

  • Playing a Tape: Ensure connections are correct, turn on TV and DVD+VCR, insert tape. Press to play. Auto tracking adjusts picture. Use PAUSE/STEP for still/frame-by-frame. Use FORWARD/BACKWARD for picture search. Use CM SKIP to skip commercials. OPR improves picture quality. Press STOP to end playback and EJECT to remove tape.
  • Instant Timer Recording (ITR): Connect, turn on, insert tape. Select program number using number buttons or AV. Select SP or LP recording mode. Press REC/ITR to start recording. Press PAUSE/STEP to pause. Press STOP to end recording.
  • Timer Recording (On Screen Display): Insert tape. Select REC, then set program, date, time, and recording speed. Use PR/TRK to select station and input date/time. Select recording speed (SP, IP, LP). Press POWER to enter Timer Standby mode.

DVD Operation

  • Playing a DVD: Insert disc. Use DVD/VCR button to select DVD mode. Use playback controls for play, pause, stop, skip, repeat, zoom.
  • Playing Audio CD/MP3/WMA: Insert disc. Select track/file and press PLAY. Program function allows storing favorite tracks.
  • Viewing JPEG/DivX Files: Insert media. Select file and press PLAY. Supports slide shows and zoom.
  • Playing DVD VR Format Disc: Insert disc. DVD-VR menu appears. Select track and press PLAY/ENTER.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Cause Correction
No power. The power cord is disconnected. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely.
The power is on, but the DVD player does not work. No disc is inserted. Insert a disc.
No picture. The TV is not set to receive this unit's signal output. Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV screen.
The video cable is not connected securely. Connect the video cable into the jacks securely.
The Progressive Scan is set to "On" on the setup menu but is connected to a standard (analog) television. Set Progressive Scan to "Off" (see page 16).
No sound. The equipment connected with the audio cable is not set to receive DVD signal output. Select the correct input mode of the audio receiver so you can listen to the sound from the this unit.
The audio cables are not connected securely. Connect the audio cable into the jacks securely.
The power of the equipment connected with the audio cable is turned off. Turn on the equipment connected with the audio cable.
The Audio option is set to the wrong position. Set the Audio option to the correct position, then turn on the DVD player again by pressing POWER.
The picture is poor. The disc is dirty. Clean the disc.
The TV channels are not tuned in properly. Check tuning, carry out tuning again.
The DVD player does not start playback. An unplayable disc is inserted. Insert a playable disc. (Check the disc type and Regional code.)
The disc is placed upside down. Place the disc with the playback side down.
The disc is not placed within the guide. Place the disc on the disc tray correctly inside the guide.
The disc is dirty. Clean the disc.
The Rating level is set. Cancel the Rating function or change the rating level.
The remote control does not work properly. There is an obstacle in the path of the remote control and this unit. Remove the obstacle.
The batteries in the remote control are exhausted. Replace the batteries with new ones.
Video tape cannot be inserted. Is the cassette compartment empty? Eject the tape in.
No Hi-Fi sound Audio mode is not set properly. Select "STEREO" by repeatedly pressing "AUDIO" on the remote control.
