Warranty Information

Makita offers a one-year limited warranty against defects in workmanship and materials from the date of original purchase.

To operate the router:

  • Ensure the shaft lock is released.
  • Press the lock button and pull the switch trigger to start. Release to stop.
  • For continuous operation, pull the switch trigger and depress the lock button. Release the switch trigger to stop.
  • Use both grips to firmly hold the tool.
  • Place the tool base on the workpiece without the bit touching it. Turn the tool on and wait for full speed.
  • Lower the body and move forward smoothly, keeping the base flush.

Depth of cut adjustment:

  • Loosen the lock lever and lower the body until the bit touches the surface.
  • Tighten the lock lever.
  • Turn the stopper pole setting nut counterclockwise.
  • Lower stopper pole to adjust depth pointer to '0'.
  • While pressing fast-feed button, raise stopper pole to desired depth.

Installing/Removing Bit:

  • Install bit securely using the provided wrench.
  • Use a collet suitable for the bit shank diameter.
  • Insert bit fully into collet cone.
  • Press shaft lock and tighten collet nut.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Remedy
The tool does not start. The tool is not plugged in. Plug in the tool.
The switch trigger is not activated. Operate the switch trigger.
The tool does not stop immediately after the switch trigger is moved to OFF (Model RP1801F, RP2301FC). The electric brake is not working. Have the tool serviced at a Makita service center.
Vibration or wobbling when running. Bit is not installed properly. Install the bit securely.
