Powering the MV32
The MV32 requires 802.3af PoE for operation via a 1000BASE-TX Ethernet port. Use an Ethernet cable from a PoE switch or injector. POE supports cable lengths up to 300 ft (100 m).
Placement Guidelines
This fisheye camera offers a 360-degree field of view, ideal for capturing an entire scene. Follow guidelines for optimal coverage and detail. It can replace multiple cameras but may require supplementary cameras for detailed identification.
Initial Considerations
Define your goals for the fisheye camera, such as level of detail required and distance from the camera's center. Consider if additional cameras are needed for specific identification tasks.
General Guidelines
Mount between 10-14 ft (3-4.3 m) for optimal detail within 20 ft (6.1m), with analytics detecting objects up to 25 ft (7.6 m). Mount away from corners for full 360 FoV, preferably on the ceiling. Maintain consistent lighting and avoid direct light sources on the dome.
Coverage Guidelines
At the recommended height, detailed images for object/person identification are possible from 0-10 ft. From 10-20 ft, identification is possible but with lost details. From 20-40 ft, details are lost, and identification becomes difficult, suggesting additional cameras.
Frequently Asked Questions
Wall mounting is not recommended as it underutilizes the 360 FoV. Ceiling mounting is preferred. Mounting higher than 14 ft decreases image quality and analytic performance. While the MV32 provides a broad overview, it's recommended to supplement with fixed/varifocal cameras for detailed identification.
