Familiarize yourself with the Miele electronic freezer, its buttons, indicator lights, and components like drawers and marker systems.

Switching on and off

\n

Clean the appliance before first use. Allow it to stand for 1/2 to 1 hour before connecting. Press the On/Off button to switch on. Bars appear on the display, and the appliance starts cooling. Allow it to run for a few hours before adding food. Press the On/Off button to switch off; the display goes out, and cooling stops. If not, the safety lock may be engaged.

Safety lock

Activate the safety lock to prevent accidental switching off by pressing and holding the Super freeze button, then the Super freeze button again, and finally a temperature button, followed by the Super freeze button again. To deactivate, press and hold the Super freeze button, then the Super freeze button again, and then a temperature button, followed by the On/Off button.

Switching off for longer periods

If not using the appliance for a while, switch it off, unplug it, defrost and clean it, and leave the door ajar.

The correct temperature

\n

Setting the correct temperature is crucial. Use the +/- buttons to select the desired temperature between -14°C and -28°C. The temperature display shows the temperature in the warmest part of the appliance and flashes if the temperature changes or if there is a loss of coldness.

Alarm

\n

The appliance has a warning system that alerts you if the temperature rises. The alarm sounds, and the display flashes if the door is left open or if large quantities of food are being frozen. The alarm can be switched off early by pressing the On/Off button.

Super freeze

\n

Use the Super freeze function to freeze fresh food quickly, preserving its nutritional value. Switch it on 4-6 hours (for small quantities) or 24 hours (for maximum load) before freezing. The SF indicator light comes on. The function switches off automatically or can be switched off manually.

Freezing and storing food

\n

Freeze food as quickly as possible to maintain quality. Do not exceed the maximum freezing capacity. Store frozen food properly, checking packaging and dates. For home freezing, only use fresh food in good condition. Suitable foods include meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, etc. Unsuitable foods include grapes, lettuce, and sour cream. Blanch vegetables before freezing. Do not season fresh foods. Pack food in portions. Expel air from packaging. Note contents and freezing date.

Defrosting

\n

Ice and frost accumulate over time. Defrost when ice is about 5mm thick. Before defrosting, switch on Super freeze, remove food, and unplug. To speed up defrosting, a bowl of hot water can be placed inside. After defrosting, clean, dry, and reconnect. Switch on Super freeze to cool down before returning food.

Cleaning

\n

Use warm water with washing-up liquid for cleaning. Do not use abrasive agents. Ensure water does not get into electronic units. Clean ventilation gaps regularly. Clean the door seal with water only. Clean the metal grille at the back annually.

Troubleshooting and error codes

What to do if... Possible Cause/Solution
...the appliance does not get cool. Check if switched on (display lit). Check plug is inserted and switched on. Check fuse is not blown; contact Miele Service Department if it is.
...the temperature is too low. Select a warmer temperature. Super freeze function may be on (SF light is on).
...the appliance is switching in too frequently and for too long. Check ventilation gaps are not covered or dusty. Check metal grille at the rear is not dusty. Door opened too frequently or large amount of fresh food added. Check door is properly closed. Check for thick layer of ice (defrost if necessary).
...the alarm sounds and the freezer section temperature display flashes. Freezer compartment too warm because: door opened too frequently or large amount of fresh food added; appliance switched off for extended period and switched on again; ventilation gaps blocked. Once resolved, alarm light will go out.
One or more bars light up in the temperature display. Check displays after 6 hours. Temperature only shows below 0°C.
...the following messages show in the temperature display "F4" or "F5 ". There is a fault. Call the Service Department. Appliance retains temperature due to safety switch.
...the alarm sounds and \"nA\" appears in the temperature display. Temperature rose due to power cut. Press alarm button. Display shows warmest temperature recorded during power cut. Check food condition.
...food has frozen together. Use blunt instrument (spoon handle or plastic scraper) to prise apart.
...there is a thick layer of ice in the freezer. Check door closes properly. Defrost and clean the freezer.
...the Super freeze indicator light does not light up although the appliance is working. The indicator light is defective. Call the Service Department.
...you cannot switch the appliance off. The safety lock has been activated.
