Microwave Oven Operation Summary

Basic Operation: Place food in a microwave-safe container and cover it. Select a power level (e.g., 800W for initial cooking, then reduce for continued cooking). For specific foods like rice or semolina pudding, start with 800W and then reduce to 150W for simmering.

Cooking Tips: Cooking durations vary based on food type and initial temperature. Fresh vegetables cook faster. Ensure food is thoroughly cooked, especially poultry. Pierce foods with thick skins to allow steam to escape. For liquids, stir before heating and allow to stand after heating to prevent boiling over.

Defrosting: Use low power levels (e.g., 80W for delicate items, 150W for others). Remove food from packaging, place in a microwave-proof dish, and defrost uncovered. Turn, stir, or separate food halfway through. Observe food hygiene rules, especially for poultry, and do not use the liquid produced during defrosting.

After Cooking: Allow food to stand for a few minutes to evenly distribute heat. Be careful when removing hot dishes.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Cause and remedy
A programme will not start. Check: appliance door closed, system lock activated, "door" message displayed, appliance plugged in and switched on, mains fuse tripped. Contact electrician or Miele Service if fuse is tripped.
A noise can be heard after a cooking programme. This is the cooling fan running to prevent humidity. It will switch off automatically.
The display does not light up. Night time switch-off may be activated (between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.). Deactivate if clock display is desired at all times.
The turntable does not turn smoothly. Area underneath the turntable may be dirty. Check for soiling underneath and between turntable and roller ring. Clean thoroughly.
Food is not adequately defrosted, heated or cooked at the end of the selected cooking duration. Insufficient duration or power level. Check if correct power level was selected. Lower power requires longer duration. Check if programme was interrupted and not restarted.
The microwave function is working but not the oven lighting. The lamp is faulty. Appliance can be used normally, but without lighting. Contact Miele Customer Service for lamp replacement.
Strange noises are heard when the microwave oven is being used. Food covered with aluminium foil or crockery with metallic finish. Remove foil and observe container information.
The time of day in the display is not accurate. Power cut may have reset the time to 12:00. Reset the correct time of day.
Food cools down too quickly. In microwave cooking, food cooks from outside in. Heat may not reach the centre. Select a lower power level and lengthen duration for food with different densities.
The microwave oven switches itself off during a cooking, reheating or defrosting programme. Insufficient air circulation (check air inlet/outlet for blockages) or overheating. Appliance switches off automatically in case of overheating and can be continued after a cooling-down period. If it continues to switch off, contact your Miele dealer.
