Warranty Information

Limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for one year on parts and labor, with specific terms for screen and software.

Basic Setup: Install batteries in the remote, plug in the TV, and follow the on-screen prompts for initial setup, including language selection. Connect your external devices to the appropriate TV inputs. Use the Activity menu to switch between inputs.

Basic Operation: Use the remote control to power the TV on/off, change channels, adjust volume, and navigate menus. The Activity key is used to select inputs. For broadcast TV, use the number keys or channel up/down buttons. For external devices, select the appropriate input from the Activity menu.

TV Features: Explore features like Sleep Timer for automatic power-off, ChannelView for program listings, and Picture Mode adjustments for optimal viewing. Adjust audio output to TV speakers, A/V receiver, or headphones.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Remarks
General TV Operation
Fan running when TV is powered off. Room too warm. Internal components continue to draw power and must be cooled.
Fan gets louder after TV is shut off. Normal operation. Fan speeds up to cool the lamp quickly.
TV remote control does not work. Check batteries, control mode, distance from TV, or program remote. Reset remote or replace batteries.
POWER key blinks five times. Replace batteries.
TV unresponsive to remote or panel buttons; won't power on/off. Unplug for 10 seconds, then press and hold POWER on control panel for system reset.
Activity menu shows blue/black screen (no signal). Ensure selected device is on and playing.
Forgot Lock menu pass code. See "Bypassing the Parental Lock", Appendix A.
Rating restrictions not working. Check Lock > Parental Lock menu to verify ratings are active and time settings.
On-screen displays appear with each function change. Normal TV operation.
Warning message: "TV will shut down... air flow blocked." Internal temperature too high. Cool room, clear vents, clean air filter.
CEC control erratic; wish to disable. Turn off HDMI control for device in Inputs > HDMI Control menu, or disable CEC on device itself. Reconnect device to TV.
TV Channels
TV takes several seconds to respond to channel changes. Normal for digital channels. Press ENTER after channel number. Use 4-digit for OTA, 6-digit for cable. Use number keys instead of CHANNEL Up/Down.
Cannot access a channel. Ensure channel is in memory. Check active input. Ensure Lock > Parent menu is Off. Virtual channels may need physical channel tune. Analog channels may no longer broadcast.
ChannelView list incomplete. Press INFO to update. Info only for current channel. Available info from broadcaster/cable provider. Set TV clock correctly.
TV Power On/Off
Takes excessively long to power on. TV needs to boot up; lamp needs to heat up.
Cannot program TV to turn on automatically (Timer). TV may be locked. Clock may not be set.
TV turned itself off and front light blinked. Momentary power fluctuation. Wait for green light to stop flashing, then turn TV on. System Reset if frequent. Unusual digital signal may trigger protection.
TV will not power off. Press and hold POWER button on control panel for 10 seconds for System Reset.
Picture
Picture not high-definition. Not all signals are HD. Subscribe to HD service. Use a high-quality antenna.
Sound but no picture. Check video inputs are firm. Perform System Reset.
Picture dimmer. Lamp nearing end of life. Order new lamp. Adjust brightness/contrast. Change Lamp Energy to Bright.
Large black/gray rectangle on screen. Analog closed captioning set to "text" mode. Turn off.
Cannot view VHS tape picture. Check VCR owner's guide.
VCR/DVD on-screen menus jitter. Stop playback. Menus may appear at half-resolution.
Stopped VCR shows white lines rolling. Turn off video mute for VCR. Begin playing tape. Change VCR input.
Color program is B&W, colors dim, or screen black. PerfectColor balance incorrect. Reset PerfectColor.
HDMI input noisy (poor quality). Upgrade to a Category 2 high-speed HDMI cable.
Computer image distorted. Normal TV operation. TV doesn't correct distortion to avoid edge cropping. Aspect ratio may be wrong; press MORE > 0 (FORMAT) to change.
Sound
No sound even with volume up. Check MUTE. Check "Listen to:" setting (SAP). Check Speakers option (TV, A/V Receiver, or Headphones). Perform System Reset.
Sound does not match picture. Check "Listen to:" setting (SAP).
A/V receiver sound does not match picture. Check DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT and/or AVR AUDIO OUTPUT connection to A/V receiver. If devices connected only to TV, sound comes from TV speakers. Check A/V receiver NetCommand setup if applicable. Check TV audio output connected to A/V receiver for MP3 playback.
Cannot select audio-only device in Activity Menu. Plug unused video plug into Y/VIDEO jack to activate Auto Input Sensing.
NetCommand IR Control (NetCommand-equipped models only)
Cannot see A/V Receiver menu. Check A/V Receiver connection, use unused TV input if necessary, or ensure setup for Audio/Video switching over HDMI.
NetCommand unable to learn specific device keys. Check IR format, room lighting, remote proximity, Mitsubishi remote mode, device key function limitations, or signal strength. Insert fresh batteries.
A/V receiver selected audio source but no sound. Check A/V Receiver power. Redisplay Activity menu and press ENTER. Check Inputs > AVR menu for correct device connection.
No sound from A/V receiver for DVD/other surround sound device. Check A/V Receiver power. Verify TV AUDIO OUTPUT connection to A/V receiver. Learn IR codes for A/V receiver inputs.
No sound/picture from A/V receiver for DVD/other device (sending video over HDMI). Check owner's guide and setup for digital surround sound.
No sound from TV speakers when A/V receiver is set to combined speakers. Check A/V Receiver Set Up for Audio-Only Switching. Connect audio from device to TV. Switch audio sources using MORE > 9 (Audio).
Learned RECORD key for VCR/DVR, but it did not record. Check if VCR/DVR is receiving signal directly from cable box or satellite receiver.
