The Motorola ML25255 is a 2-line corded/cordless phone system with a digital answering system, designed for home or office use. It supports up to 10 extensions and can be expanded with an additional cordless handset. Key operations include making and answering calls, using the speakerphone, transferring calls, conference calling, and managing voicemail. The system features Caller ID, a directory, and one-touch memory. The answering system allows for message recording, playback, and remote access. Basic settings like date/time, ring tones, and display contrast can be programmed through the menu system.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Troubleshooting Issue Possible Solution
Operation by battery Ensure batteries are correctly installed or replace them.
No dial tone Check installation steps, power cord connection, telephone line cords, and hook switch. Test with another phone.
Dial tone is ok, but can't dial out Verify correct dial mode setting.
Phone does not ring Ensure ringer is ON, Do Not Disturb is OFF, and check for too many extension phones or registration issues.
Cannot be heard by the other party Ensure Mute is OFF and headset/handset cord is properly inserted.
Incoming voice too low or none at all Check call volume setting.
Static, noise, or fading in and out Ensure base station is not plugged into an outlet with other appliances. Relocate base if necessary.
One-Touch Memory / Directory dialing doesn't work Verify correct programming of memory keys and proper phone number formatting.
No Caller ID Subscribe to Caller ID service from your local telephone company.
No Display Ensure unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet and reconnect power adaptor.
Date/Time setting is restored to default setting This may be caused by power failure. Set Date/Time again.
Intercom does not function correctly Ensure all extension phones are properly registered with the base and are within range, with no major interference sources.
OUT OF RANGE shows on the handset display Move handset closer to the base. Ensure base power cord is connected.
Causes of poor reception Aluminum siding, foil insulation, metal construction, proximity to appliances, storms, basement installation, shared outlets, or baby monitors using the same frequency can cause poor reception. Ensure hook switch is up and batteries are good.
