The Motorola PTP 600 Series utilizes Time Division Duplex (TDD) for wireless Ethernet links. In dense networks with multiple radios, interference can reduce performance. TDD Synchronization, facilitated by the MemoryLink UltraSync GPS-100M, synchronizes transmit and receive frames to minimize interference and optimize spectral reuse. The UltraSync GPS-100M is a GPS receiver that provides a precise synchronization signal to the PTP 600 Series radios, allowing them to time and synchronize their signals. This unit is critical for network efficiency and reliability, especially in high-interference environments. It is ruggedly designed for harsh climates and RF environments, with an outdoor-rated enclosure.
Installation involves two stages: installing the GPS Synchronization Unit (part number WB3001) and enabling TDD synchronization mode on the PTP 600 radio via its Web GUI. Deployment considerations include fixed-frequency operations only, fixed TDD operation (master/slave ratio), and the requirement for careful network planning. The unit connects to the PTP 600 ODU via a SYNC port, providing a timing reference. Lightning protection is also strongly recommended.
