Getting to Know the Versa Note VX

The Versa Note VX is a portable system featuring Intel® Celeron™, Pentium® II or Pentium III processors, PCI architecture, a hard disk drive, diskette drive, and PC card support. Many models include a 24X CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and a 56Kbps modem for multimedia capabilities.

Around the System

• Front: LCD panel, Power and Battery Charging LEDs, Control Panel (CD controls, Password buttons, Status LEDs, Email, Internet, Power buttons).
• Keyboard: Standard QWERTY layout with function keys, Windows keys, cursor control keys, typewriter keys, numeric keypad, and control keys. Special Fn key combinations offer advanced functions.
• Base Unit: Speakers, IR Port, Microphone, Audio Ports (Microphone, Line In, Headphones), Volume Control.
• Back: System ports including Port Replicator Notches, PS/2, AC Power, Parallel, Expansion, VGA, Serial, USB, and Modem/LAN ports.
• Left Side: Kensington Lock Latch, CD-ROM Drive, Diskette Drive, Hard Disk Drive.
• Right Side: Battery Bay, Fan, PC Card Slots, TV Out.
• Bottom: Battery Bay, Battery Release Latch, Memory Module Bay Cover, Tilt Foot.

Internal Components

Key internal components include the Battery Pack (NiMH or Li-Ion), Diskette Drive, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM Drive, Hard Disk Drive, CMOS Battery, and the system ChipSet.

System Configuration and Setup

The Versa Note VX can be powered by AC adapter, battery pack, or optional auto adapter. Instructions are provided for connecting the AC adapter, powering the system on/off, and using/charging the battery. Battery handling precautions are also detailed.
