CD-ETIA Blade Overview

The CD-ETIA blade is an 8-port Gigabit PoE Switch designed for high network performance. It supports Auto-MDI/MID-X for automatic speed detection and offers Layer 2 switch management including VLAN bridging, priority queuing, and flow control. The blade also features dynamic PoE control to manage power budgets and provides a web-based utility for remote management.

Installation and Setup

The manual details the installation process for the CD-ETIA blade within a controlling or expansion chassis. It emphasizes safety precautions related to static electricity and hazardous voltages, including the use of grounded wrist straps. System programming for SV8100 and SV8300 systems using a Multiline Terminal, PCPro, or WebPro is also described.

Web Manager Functions

The Gigabit PoE Switch Web Manager allows configuration of various aspects, including port settings, PoE settings, port mirroring, PVID, VLANs, and firmware downloads. Session management for site setup and user password changes, as well as device initialization to factory defaults, are also covered.

Troubleshooting and error codes

TermDefinition
EthernetEthernet is a family of frame-based computer networking technologies for local area networks (LANs). It defines a number of wiring and signaling standards for the physical layer, through means of network access at the Media Access Control (MAC)/Data Link Layer and a common addressing format.
GatewayGateway (computer networking), a node that serves as an entrance to another network and vice versa.
InternetThe global digital network.
IP AddressA unique address that certain electronic devices use in order to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network utilizing the Internet Protocol standard (IP) – in simpler terms, a computer address.
MAC AddressA worldwide unique physical address required for all equipment on the internet.
MDIXMedium Dependent Interface Crossover
NVRAMNon-Volatile Random Access Memory describes any type of random access memory which does not lose its information when power is turned off.
PoEPower over Ethernet describes a system to transmit electrical power, along with data, to remote devices over standard twisted-pair cable in an Ethernet network.
PVIDPort VLAN Identifier is the per-port value to be used for applying VID assignments to untagged frames, during the ingress process. PVID initially reflects the default VLAN value, for all ports.
Real-Time TransmissionReal-Time Transmission is transmission in which there is no perceived delay in the transmission of a voice message or the response to it. This is a requirement for voice traffic.
Subnet MaskA number used to identify a subnetwork so that an IP address can be shared on a LAN. A range of logical addresses within the address space that is assigned to an organization.
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is a networking protocol that provides communication across interconnected networks, between computers with diverse hardware architectures and various operating systems.
VLANVirtual Local Area Network is a group of hosts with a common set of requirements that communicate as if they were attached to the same wire, regardless of their physical location. A VLAN has the same attributes as a physical LAN, but it allows for end stations to be grouped together even if they are not located on the same LAN segment.
VLAN IDThe identification of the VLAN, which is basically used by the standard 802.1Q.
VoIPVoice over Internet Protocol is a protocol optimized for the transmission of voice through the Internet or other packet-switched networks.
