Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Cannot turn on the power. Battery depleted or AC adaptor not connected properly. Check battery and AC adaptor connections.

Cannot start shooting. POWER/MODE switch is not ON. Ensure the POWER/MODE switch is set to <ON>.
Cannot focus automatically. Camera in manual focus mode or auto focus function unavailable for the lens. Scene is difficult for auto focus. Switch to auto focus mode. Check lens compatibility. Consider manual focus for difficult scenes.
Cannot record even though the memory card is inserted correctly. Write-protect switch on memory card is in <LOCK> position. Memory card has very low remaining memory. Memory card incorrectly formatted. Memory card not compatible with video recording. Move write-protect switch to unlock. Save card content and delete unnecessary data, or use a new card. Reformat the memory card. Use a compatible memory card.
Recording stops by itself. Low memory remaining. Memory card formatting incompatibility. 8 MB to 16 MB memory cards cannot be used. Save card content and delete unnecessary data, or use a new card. Reformat the memory card. Use a larger capacity memory card.
