Powering On and Off: Use the POWER switch (1) to turn the unit on or off.
Inserting P2 Cards: Turn on the power, slide open the slide-out door, and insert a P2 card into the slot until the EJECT button pops up. Tilt the EJECT button to lock the card.
Controls: Familiarize yourself with the various controls and their functions, such as the CAMERA unit controls (CC/ND FILTER, USER buttons, SHUTTER switch, AUTO W/B BAL switch, gain selector), shooting and recording/playback functions (REC START/STOP, SHOT MARK, SAVE ON/OFF, VIDEO OUT CHARACTER), and output signal selection.
Viewfinder and LCD Monitor: Use the viewfinder for monitoring and adjust settings with its controls. The LCD monitor displays video and can also show P2 card thumbnails for clip management.
Troubleshooting and error codes

| Stays off | PROTECTED | The write-protect switch on the P2 card is positioned at [PROTECT]. Only reading is enabled. |
| Stays off | NOT SUPPORTED | The card is not supported by your AJ-SPX800P. Replace the card. |
| Stays off | FORMAT ERROR | The P2 card is not properly formatted. Reformat the card. |
| Stays off | NO CARD | No P2 card is inserted. |
