Basic Camera Positioning

  1. Hold the unit with both hands.
  2. Put your hand through the grip belt.
  3. It is convenient to use the Recording button icon A when holding the unit at waist level.

Tips for recording:

  • Ensure stable footing and avoid collisions.
  • Record with the sun behind you outdoors to prevent silhouette effects.
  • Keep arms close to the body and legs apart for balance.
  • Do not cover the microphones.

Basic Motion Picture Recording

  • Hold the unit steady.
  • Move slowly and smoothly when panning.
  • Use zoom to capture distant subjects, but avoid excessive zooming.

Recording Yourself

Rotate the LCD monitor towards the lens. The image will be horizontally flipped (mirror image). Some indicators may appear. If the warning icon appears, return the LCD to normal position.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Issue Possible Cause Solution
Flashing status indicator (approx. 4 sec period) Battery over-discharged or temperature too high/low. Charging may take longer. Normal charging resumes in approx. 2 sec intervals.
Flashing status indicator (approx. 0.5 sec period) Battery not charged. Terminals dirty. Extreme temperature. Remove and re-charge battery. Clean terminals. Wait for temperature to normalize. Faulty unit/battery/adaptor possible.
Status indicator off (charging unfinished) Possible fault in unit, battery, or AC adaptor. Refer to page 183 for battery details.
