Turning the Unit On and Off:
  • Open the LCD monitor and press the power button to turn on the unit.
  • To turn off, hold down the power button until the status indicator goes off.
  • Alternatively, open the LCD monitor to turn on and close to turn off (except during recording or Wi-Fi connection).
Selecting a Mode:
  • Press the recording/playback button to switch between Recording and Playback modes.
  • In Recording Mode, touch the mode switching icon to select Motion Picture or Still Picture Recording Mode.
Basic Operations:
  • Preparation: Familiarize yourself with the main parts (lens, lens cover, microphones, etc.) on pages 8-11.
  • Power Supply: Insert and remove the battery as shown on page 12. Charge the battery before first use as detailed on pages 13-14.
  • Recording: Understand recording formats (AVCHD, 4K MP4, MP4, 24p) on page 2. Insert an SD card (pages 17-19).
  • Playback: Review recorded motion pictures and still pictures (pages 35, 99).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Check points
Scenes/still pictures cannot be played back. • Any scenes/still pictures where the thumbnails are displayed as i cannot be played back. • Release the protect setting. (141)
Scenes cannot be deleted. • Any scenes/still pictures where the thumbnails are displayed ! cannot be deleted. If the scenes/still pictures are unnecessary, format the media to erase the data. (→ 46) • Please be aware that if a media is formatted then all the data recorded on the media is erased and cannot be recovered. Back up important data on a PC, disc etc.
Even when this unit is correctly connected to a TV, images or sounds are not output. • Please read the operating instructions of your TV and select the channel that matches the input used for the connection. • The audio during playback mode is not output from this unit when connected to a TV. Sound levels cannot be adjusted using this unit, so adjust the sound on the TV.
The images are squeezed horizontally. • Check if the HDMI micro cable is connected correctly. • Insert the HDMI micro cable all the way in.
Even when this unit is connected to the TV by the HDMI micro cable, images or sounds are not output. • Check that the device is compatible with the capacity or type of SD card (SD Memory Card/SDHC Memory Card/SDXC Memory Card) that you inserted. Refer to the operating instructions of the device for details.
If the SD card is inserted in another device, it is not recognized. • Check that the USB cable is properly connected. • Connect the USB cable so it is fully and firmly inserted. • Connect a battery to the unit.
When connected by the USB cable, this unit is not detected by the other devices. (Setting on this unit) • Connect with an HDMI micro cable (supplied). (→ 145) • Touch MENU, then touch [SETUP] → [VIERA Link] → [ON]. (→ 149) • Turn the unit off and then back on again. (Setting on other devices) • If the TV input does not switch automatically, switch the input using the TV remote control. • Check the VIERA Link setting on the connected device. • Please refer to the operating instructions of the connected device.
