Before Use

Power Supply

  • Using the AC Adaptor: Connect the DC Input Lead to the Movie Camera and AC Adaptor, then connect the AC Mains Lead to the AC Adaptor and mains socket.
  • Using the Battery: Fully charge the battery before use by attaching it to the AC Adaptor.

Charging Time and Available Recording Time

Refer to the tables for NV-GS200 and NV-GS120 models, detailing charging times and available recording times with different battery packs. Note that using the LCD monitor or viewfinder simultaneously may shorten recording time.

The One-touch Freestyle Grip Belt

Adjustable for use as a grip belt or hand strap.

Attaching the Lens Cap

Pass the cord through the attachment part and the lens cap.

Attaching the Shoulder Strap

Thread the strap through the holder and adjust the length.

Inserting a Cassette

Slide the [OPEN/EJECT] Lever, insert the cassette, close the holder, and close the compartment cover.

Using a Card

Insert a card when the camera is off. The [ACCESS] lamp indicates card activity.

Turning on the Movie Camera

Set the [OFF/ON] Switch to [ON] while pressing the button. The [POWER] Lamp lights up.

Selecting Modes

Rotate the Mode Dial to select Tape Recording, Tape Playback, Card Recording, Picture Playback, MPEG4 Playback, or PC Mode.

Using the Viewfinder/LCD Monitor

Adjust the viewfinder with the Eyepiece Corrector Knob. Tilt the viewfinder up for use. Open the LCD monitor by pressing the [PUSH OPEN] Button. Adjust the monitor angle up to 120°.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Power
Movie Camera cannot be turned on. Power source not connected correctly. Check power source connection. (See page 8)
Movie Camera turns off automatically. Recording Pause Mode exceeded 6 minutes. Power off and on again. (See pages 19, 20, 22)
Movie Camera power does not stay on long enough. Battery is low or condensation has occurred. Charge battery or attach a fully charged battery. Wait for condensation indication to disappear. (See pages 8, 30)
Battery
Battery runs down quickly. Battery not fully charged, used in cold place, or worn out. Charge battery, use in appropriate temperature, or replace battery. (See pages 8, 30)
Battery cannot be charged. DC Input Lead connected to AC Adaptor. Disconnect DC Input Lead.
Normal Recording
Recording does not start. Cassette not inserted correctly, accidental erasure prevention slider open, tape wound to end, power off, or condensation occurred. Check cassette insertion, slider position, tape end, power, and condensation. (See pages 11, 30)
Other Recording
Auto Focus Function does not work. Manual Focus Mode selected, or subject/surroundings unsuitable for Auto Focus. Use Manual Focus Mode. (See pages 29, 31)
Editing
Audio dubbing cannot be performed. Accidental erasure prevention slider open, or editing LP Mode tape. Check slider position, and ensure tape is not in LP Mode. (See pages 11, 17)
Indications
Time Code becomes inaccurate. Normal phenomenon during Slow Motion Playback. -
Remaining Tape Time Indication does not match actual time. Short scenes recorded continuously, or timing approximation. -
Playback (Pictures)
Pictures cannot be played back. Mode Dial not set to Playback Mode. Set Mode Dial to Playback Mode. (See page 33)
Mosaic-pattern noise appears during Cue, Review or Slow Motion Playback. Characteristic of digital video systems. -
