Getting Started

Powering On/Off: Set the Power Switch to [ON] while pressing the button or to [OFF].

Selecting Modes: Rotate the Mode Dial to choose between Tape Recording, Tape Playback, Card Recording, Picture Playback, or PC Mode.

Using the Viewfinder/LCD Monitor: Tilt up the viewfinder and adjust the eyepiece. Open the LCD Monitor for a wider view (up to 120°).

Menu Navigation: Press the [MENU] button, navigate sub-menus using directional buttons, and confirm selections with [ENTER].

Recording:

  • On Tape: Set Mode Dial to Tape Recording, press [REC] to start, [PAUSE] to pause.
  • Still Pictures (Card): Set Mode Dial to Card Recording, press [PHOTO SHOT] halfway then fully.

Playback

  • Tape: Use playback controls like [PLAY], [STOP], [REW], [FAST FWD].
  • Card: Use playback controls for recorded still pictures.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Movie Camera power cannot be turned on. Power source not connected correctly. Check connections.
Movie Camera power turns off automatically. Recording Pause Mode continued for more than 6 minutes. Turn power off and then on again.
Movie Camera power does not stay on long enough. Battery low or condensation occurred. Charge battery or wait for condensation to disappear.
Battery runs down quickly. Battery not fully charged, used in extreme cold, or worn out. Charge battery, use in moderate temperature, or replace battery.
Battery cannot be charged. DC Input Lead connected to AC Adaptor. Disconnect DC Input Lead.
Recording does not start. Cassette issues or condensation. Check cassette, insert new one, or wait for condensation to clear.
Auto Focus Function does not work. Manual Focus Mode selected or subject/surroundings unsuitable. Select Auto Focus Mode or use Manual Focus Mode.
Audio dubbing cannot be performed. Accidental erasure prevention slider open or tape recorded in LP Mode. Close slider or use a tape not recorded in LP Mode.
Time Code becomes inaccurate. Not a malfunction during Slow Motion Playback. None.
Remaining Tape Time Indication is inaccurate. Short recorded scenes or other cases. None.
Pictures cannot be played back. Mode Dial not set to Playback Mode. Set Mode Dial to Playback Mode.
Mosaic-pattern noise appears. Characteristic of digital video systems. Not a malfunction.
Cannot see playback images on TV. TV input not selected correctly or incorrect connection. Select correct TV input or check connection.
Playback picture is not clear. Dirty heads. Clean heads.
Screen frozen or indication disappeared. Device issue. Turn off, reset, detach/reattach power.
Sound not played back. Volume too low or incorrect audio settings. Adjust volume or check audio settings.
Different sounds reproduced. [12bit AUDIO] set to [MIX]. Set to [ST1] for no audio dubbing.
Recorded pictures on Card are not clear. [PICT QUALITY] set to [NORMAL] or [ECONOMY]. Set [PICT QUALITY] to [FINE].
Photoshot Playback images not normal. Picture damaged or Card damaged. Back up data or consult dealer.
[UNPLAYABLE CARD] displayed. Image recorded in different format or data damaged. None.
Card cannot be used even after formatting. Damaged Movie Camera or Card. Consult a dealer.
Free Style Remote Controller not operating. Not plugged in tightly. Ensure secure connection.
Movie Camera clatters when shaking. Sound of lens moving. Not a malfunction.
Error message on PC when disconnecting USB Cable. Incorrect disconnection. Disconnect USB Cable safely via task tray icon.
