Troubleshooting and error codes

Problems Solutions
Palmcorder power cannot be turned on. Is the power source connected correctly?
Palmcorder power turned off automatically. If left in Recording Pause Mode for over 5 minutes, it turns off automatically to protect the tape and save battery.
Battery runs down quickly. Check if battery is fully charged, if used in extreme cold, or if battery has worn out.
Recording does not start. Check accidental erasure tab on cassette, tape end, camera lamp status, or if condensation has occurred.
Audio dubbing cannot be performed. Check accidental erasure tab, or if tape was recorded in LP Mode (audio dubbing is not supported).
Remaining Tape Time Indication disappears. May happen temporarily during PhotoShot Mode recording; reappears when set back to Normal Recording Mode.
Video cannot be played back. Is the [VCR] Lamp on? Playback is not possible if it's off.
Mosaic-like noise patterns appear. Characteristic of digital video systems, not a malfunction.
Playback image is not clear. Are the heads dirty? Adjust volume if sound is low.
Original sound erased during audio dubbing. If audio dubbing was performed on a [16bit] recording, original sound is erased. Select [12bit] Mode for recording to preserve original sound.
Sounds cannot be played back. Check if [AUDIO] is set to [ST1] for cassettes without audio dubbing. Cancel Variable Speed Search if active.
Recorded picture on Memory Card not clear. Set [PICTURE QUALITY] to [NORMAL] or [FINE] if it was set to [ECONOMY]. Images may be damaged; back up data.
Card PhotoShot playback pictures do not look normal. Images may be damaged; back up data. Contact Panasonic.
Card formatted but cannot be used. Possibility of damage to Palmcorder or Card. Contact Panasonic.
