Getting Started:

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Cause and Solution
A Wi-Fi connection cannot be established. Radio waves get disconnected. Wireless access point is not displayed.
  • Use within communication range.
  • Avoid interference from microwave ovens, cordless phones, etc.
  • Check battery level; low battery can disrupt connection.
  • Avoid metal surfaces.
  • Ensure wireless access point is operating.
  • Check radio wave condition; move closer or adjust angle.
  • Try turning the access point off and on.
  • Check if SSID broadcast is enabled.
This unit is not displayed in the Wi-Fi setting screen of the smartphone.
  • Toggle the Wi-Fi function on/off in the smartphone's Wi-Fi settings.
I am having a problem connecting to my Windows 8 PC. The user name and password are not recognized.
  • Ensure you are using the correct user name and password for the local account on Windows 8.
The camera cannot be connected to Mac computer/Windows PC via Wi-Fi connection.
  • Ensure workgroup names match; adjust in [Wi-Fi Setup] if necessary.
  • Confirm login name and password are correct.
  • Ensure camera and computer system times match.
Images cannot be transmitted to the WEB service.
  • Confirm login information (ID, username, password) is correct.
It takes time to transmit an image to the WEB service. Transmission of the image fails midway. There is an image that could not be transmitted.
  • If image size is too large, divide motion pictures or reduce image size.
  • Transmit closer to the wireless access point.
  • Check file format compatibility with the destination.
I have forgotten the password for the Wi-Fi.
  • Execute [Reset Wi-Fi Settings] in the [Setup] menu. Note that this resets all Wi-Fi setup information.
TV, computer, printer No image appears on TV. Image blurred or not colored.
  • Check connection (→264).
  • Ensure TV is on the correct auxiliary input.
VIERA Link (HDMI) is not working.
  • Is [VIERA Link] setting ON? (→201)
  • Check VIERA Link settings on the connected device.
  • Turn camera off and on again.
Cannot communicate with the computer.
  • Set [USB Mode] to [PC] (→200, 270).
  • Turn camera off and on again.
Computer does not recognize card. (When using an SDXC Memory Card)
  • Check computer compatibility with SDXC cards.
  • Do not format the card if prompted.
  • If [Access] indicator remains on, turn camera off before disconnecting USB.
Cannot print when connecting to printer.
  • Ensure printer is PictBridge compatible.
  • Set [USB Mode] to [PictBridge(PTP)] (→200, 273).
The edges of pictures are cut off when printing.
  • Release trimming/edgeless printing settings on the printer.
  • Check aspect ratio for compatibility with paper size.
Others The lens makes a clicking noise.
  • Normal operation during power on/off, lens movement, or aperture adjustment.
Zooming stops instantaneously.
  • Normal behavior when using Extended optical zoom.
Red lamp illuminated when pressing shutter button halfway in dark locations.
  • [AF Assist Lamp] is set to [ON] (→188).
Camera is hot.
  • Normal, does not affect performance.
Clock is incorrect.
  • Reset the clock (→31) if camera is not used for a long time.
When using zoom, picture becomes slightly warped and the edges of the subject become colored.
  • Normal, depends on zoom ratio.
Privacy Policy
