Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
The picture does not appear on the television. Camera not connected correctly to TV; TV input not set correctly. Check TV connection (P341); Set TV input to external mode.
The picture is not displayed fully on the TV. Different display areas on TV and camera monitor. Check [TV Aspect] setting (P78).
Motion pictures cannot be played back on a TV. Direct card insertion into TV; incorrect connection. Connect camera to TV via AV or HDMI cable; play back on camera (P341).
Sound is not output from the camera speaker. AV or HDMI cable connected. Sound is not output from camera when connected.
VIERA Link does not work. Incorrect HDMI connection; VIERA Link not set to ON; connected device issue. Check HDMI connection (P341); Set [VIERA Link] to [ON] (P79); Check VIERA Link settings on connected device; turn camera off/on; adjust [HDAVI Control] on TV.
Cannot communicate with the PC. Camera not recognized by PC; USB Mode incorrect. Set to [PC] in [USB Mode] (P77, 348); turn camera off/on.
The card is not recognized by the PC. USB connection issue; PC compatibility with SDXC cards. Reconnect USB cable; try different USB terminal; check SDXC compatibility (http://panasonic.net/avc/sdcard/information/SDXC.html); do not format prompted card; disconnect USB after turning unit off.
Picture cannot be printed when connected to a printer. Printer does not support PictBridge. Set to [PictBridge(PTP)] in [USB Mode] (P77, 351).
Picture ends are cut at printing. Cropping or borderless printing function enabled on printer. Cancel cropping/borderless printing; ask photo studio about 16:9 printing.
Panorama picture not printing correctly. Aspect ratio differs; printer does not support panorama. Use a printer that supports panorama pictures; use "PHOTOfunSTUDIO" software.
When shaking camera, rattling sound from attached lens. Lens movement. Normal; not a malfunction.
Camera makes noise when turned on. Dust Reduction Function. Normal; not a malfunction (P403).
Sound from lens unit. Lens movement or aperture operation. Normal; not a malfunction.
Unreadable language selected by mistake. Incorrect language selection. Press [MENU/SET], select [Setup] menu icon [F], then [] to set language (P80).
Part of picture flashing in black and white. Highlight function showing white saturated area. Highlight function (P56).
Red lamp on when shutter button pressed halfway. AF Assist Lamp in dark places. AF Assist Lamp for focus (P163).
AF Assist Lamp does not turn on. [AF Assist Lamp] set to [OFF]; bright places. Set [AF Assist Lamp] to [ON] (P163); it does not operate in bright light.
Camera becomes warm. Normal operation. Surface and monitor may warm up during use; does not affect performance.
Clock is reset. Camera not used for a long time. Set clock when [Please set the clock] message displays (P41).
File numbers not recorded consecutively. Operation after taking action; folder/file number change. Pictures recorded in different folders.
File numbers recorded with previously used numbers. Battery removed before turning off unit. Folder/file numbers not stored; may be assigned to previous pictures upon restart.
I have forgotten the password for the Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi settings not reset. Execute [Reset Wi-Fi Settings] in [Setup] menu (P81); this resets all Wi-Fi settings except [LUMIX CLUB].
Do not use the camera in areas with magnetic fields, static electricity or interference. Proximity to microwave ovens, cordless telephones. May cause interruption of radio waves or decreased performance.
Do not connect to the wireless network you are not authorized to use. Unauthorized network connection attempt. Do not attempt to connect to unauthorized networks (SSID).
