Warranty Information

  • Before Use: Read "Read this first!", "IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS", "Recommendation for Use of Genuine Panasonic Battery", "Outline of operations", "Please read before use", and "Operating precautions".
  • Preparation: Recharging battery, connecting power sources (battery/AC adapter), adjusting hand strap, attaching/detaching handle/grip, setting up remote control, turning camera on/off, understanding tally lamp, using viewfinder and LCD monitor, setting calendar and time zone.
  • Shooting: Basic shooting operations including preparing for recording, using SD memory cards, formatting cards, selecting slots, adjusting shutter speed, switching audio input, using scene files, and adjusting camera settings like gain, white balance, and focus.

Power supply
There’s no power.
Make sure the battery and AC adaptor are connected properly. Check the connections again. P25 of Vol.1
Power shuts off for no apparent reason. The camera-recorder automatically turns off when left in recording pause mode for more than 5 minutes. Check OTHER FUNCTIONS screen, POWER SAVE settings. P63
Power goes off as soon as it is turned on. The battery may have run out. Recharge the battery or replace it with a fully charged one. P24 of Vol.1
Battery
The battery runs down quickly.
Ensure battery is fully charged. Avoid using in cold places. Battery may have reached end of service life. P23 of Vol.1
The battery cannot be charged. Disconnect the DC cord. P23 of Vol.1
The remaining battery capacity is not displayed correctly. Display is a guideline. Charge and use battery fully.
Shooting
Cannot start shooting.
Make sure the POWER switch is ON. P27 of Vol.1
Cannot focus automatically. Ensure auto focus mode is selected. Auto focus may not be available with VFR, slow shutter speeds, or specific lenses. Focus manually if needed. P39 of Vol.1
Recording
Cannot record even through the SD Memory Card is inserted correctly.
Check write-protect switch, remaining memory, and card format. Use compatible SD memory cards. P38 of Vol.1
Recording stops by itself. Use an SD memory card compatible with video recording. P12 of Vol.1
Editing
Cannot read the data on the SD Memory Card.
Ensure the SD Memory Card is formatted correctly. P36 of Vol.1
Cannot perform nonlinear editing. Check computer specifications and connecting cable. P42
Cannot dub onto an external device. Make sure the external device is connected correctly. P42
Displays
Something is wrong with the time code display.
Time code display may not register a regular count in reverse slow mode. This is normal.
Playback
Cannot play even when I press the play button.
Ensure the PB lamp is on. P28
Mosaic-like noise appears when I cue or review a clip. This noise is inherent to digital video technology. This is normal.
Images do not appear on the television even though I have connected the camera-recorder properly. Ensure the television's input selector is set to video input.
Cannot hear any sound from the camera-recorder’s speaker. Adjust the volume level using the AUDIO MON/ADV button +. P40
PC connection
Computer does not recognize camera when USB connection cable is connected.
Check operating environment. Try a different USB terminal. Power cycle the camera and computer. P42
An error message appears on the computer when the USB connection cable is disconnected. Safely disconnect by following on-screen instructions.
Other
The remote control does not work.
Check remote control battery. Ensure IR REMOTE setting is ON. P23 of Vol.1
There is a rattling sound when the camera-recorder is tilted back and forth. This is the sound of the lens moving. This is not a fault.
A clicking sound is heard when the power is turned on or when the PB mode is switched to the CAM mode. This is a normal initialization operation when the camera starts up.
The SD Memory Card screen appears strange. Data on the card may be corrupted due to static electricity or electromagnetic waves. Always save important data to a computer.
The SD Memory Card cannot be used even after formatting. There could be a fault with the camera or SD Memory Card. Use only compatible SD Memory Cards.
The camera does not recognize the SD Memory Card even though it is inserted correctly. Ensure the SD Memory Card is formatted with this camera. P36 of Vol.1
The SD Memory Card is not recognized when inserted into other devices. Check device compatibility with the SD Memory Card type and capacity. P12 of Vol.1
