General Information

This manual provides instructions for the Philips Compact Disc Recorder/Player Double Deck (CDR 765). It covers installation, operation, recording, erasing, playing, and troubleshooting.

Recording

Users can record audio CDs and CD-RW discs. Two recording methods are described: digital dubbing (normal or high-speed) from an external source, and synchronized digital recording from an external CD player using CD-SYNC. Analog recording is also supported.

Playing

The device can play prerecorded audio CDs, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. Users can select tracks, search, shuffle play, repeat tracks or discs, and program playback sequences.

Maintenance

Important notes on disc maintenance, cleaning the player, and avoiding extreme environmental conditions are provided.

Troubleshooting and error codes

SYMPTOM SOLUTION
No power Check ON/OFF button, power cable, and switch off/on.
Auto track does not work Ensure auto track is selected and there is 3 seconds silence between tracks.
No sound Check audio connections, use a different source if using an amplifier.
Amplifier sound is distorted Ensure the player's analogue output is not connected to the amplifier's Phono input.
Play will not start Check disc label, clean disc, try another disc, ensure disc is finalized.
Remote control does not work Point directly at the player, check and replace batteries.
Will not record Clean disc, ensure CD-RW is not finalized, ensure disc is recordable, check input source.
Analog recording is distorted Make sure the recording level is correct.
20 second pause between recordings Refer to Synchronized digital recording (CD-SYNC) p.15.
Player does not react Switch the ON/OFF button off and on.
FECOrDER on display Power failure during recording; player is attempting to repair the disc. If "NO dISc" appears, disc cannot be recorded further but can be played. If on CD-RW, track is lost but recording can continue. If "NO OPC" appears, disc cannot be used for recording but can be played as CD.
ПООГЕС on display Non-audio track detected during scan before recording; this track will be skipped.
