Various buttons for playback control (STOP, SOUND MODE, PLAY, REVERSE, PAUSE, SLOW, FORWARD, PREVIOUS, RESUME, NEXT), menu navigation (MENU SYSTEM, RETURN, OK), disc information (TITLE, CHAPTER, TRACK TIME, REM TIME), and special functions (SCAN, SHUFFLE, REPEAT A-B, FTS).
| Symptom | Remedy |
|---|---|
| No power | Check mains cord connection. Check AC outlet. |
| No sound | Check audio connections. Avoid connecting to HiFi amplifier phono input. |
| Distorted sound from HiFi amplifier | Try another sound source. |
| Disc can't be played | Ensure disc label is upwards. Clean disc. Check if disc is defective. |
| No picture | Check if TV is switched on. Check video connection. |
| Distorted picture | Clean disc with a soft cloth from center to edge. Note: Slight distortion may appear and is not a malfunction. |
| Completely distorted picture with player menu | Press STOP and ►► FORWARD simultaneously while turning player ON to reset NTSC/PAL switch. |
| No colour in picture with player menu | Press STOP and ►► FORWARD simultaneously while turning player ON to reset NTSC/PAL switch. |
| No return to start-up screen when disc is removed | Reset by switching player OFF then ON. Check if program requires another disc. |
| The player does not respond to the remote control | Aim remote control at player sensor. Check batteries. Check device code setting. |
| Distorted or black and white picture with DVD or Video CD disc | Use discs matching TV system (PAL/NTSC). |
| No audio at digital output | Check digital connections. Check settings menu for digital output ON. Check if audio format matches receiver capabilities. |
| Buttons do not work | Reset by switching player OFF then ON. |
| Audible 'clicks' from player's internal | Normal operation of the player's relais. |
| Player does not respond to all operating commands during playback | Operations are not permitted by the disc. Refer to disc inlay. |
| Disturbance problems (like howling noises) during playback | Ground the system. |
