Special Features

  • Automatic SATELLITE Recording: Records programs from Satellite Receiver or other devices connected to the EXT2 AUX-I/O socket.
  • 'Time Shift Buffer': Temporarily stores programs for up to 6 hours. Mark sections for permanent storage on HDD.
  • 'FlexTime': Watch or recall programs while they are still being recorded, or watch a different program from HDD.
  • 'Instant Replay': Repeats a scene of a live TV program by pressing JUMP BACK.
  • 'Pause Live TV': Pauses and resumes live TV programs.

Basic Recorder Connections

Connect aerial, video (Scart, S-Video, or Composite), and audio (Analogue or Digital) cables.

Optional Connections

Connect to Cable Box/Satellite Receiver, VCR, or camcorder (DV IN socket for digital camcorders).

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Solution
No power. Press the STANDBY-ON button. Make sure the AC outlet has power.
Message "IS TVON?" Complete basic installation. Read chapter "Step3: Installation and Set-up".
Recorder does not respond. Disconnect from power outlet for 30 seconds, then reconnect. If still unresponsive, reset to default factory settings by pressing and holding STANDBY-ON while reconnecting to power.
Remote control does not work. Aim at recorder sensor, check for obstacles, replace batteries.
No picture. Turn on TV, set to correct Video In channel. Check video connection.
No sound. Check audio connection. Set Analogue or Digital output correctly.
SAT recording does not occur. Check 'Low Power Standby' (Off) and 'SAT record' (On) settings. Ensure Satellite Receiver is connected to EXT 2 AUX-I/O socket.
No TV signal received. Check aerial/cable signal. Install TV channel via Auto Install.
Disc will not play. Insert disc label up, check region code (ALL or Region 2), ensure no recording or wrong disc type, check for scratches/warping.
Picture distorted or black and white. Check TV colour system standard (PAL/NTSC). Clean disc.
Picture or sound interference. Check aerial/cable signal. Fine-tune TV channel via Manual Search. Do not connect to 'Phono' input of amplifier. Use COAXIAL or OPTICAL-DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT for DTS CDs.
Recordings not scheduled. Check stored TV channels and programme number. Reset timer recording after clock adjustment. Cannot duplicate copy-protected material. Check HDD space.
Wrong TV channel decoded. Enter VIDEO Plus+® number, confirm. Check and change program # if incorrect.
Recorded DVD unplayable on other player. Observe minimum recording times (HQ-5min, SP-10min, etc.).
'Disc contains unknown data'. Disc may not be finalized. Try disc repair process (hold button 5 until tray closes).
Picture fuzzy/brightness varies copying. Copying copy-protected DVDs/videocassettes is faulty. Use new disc.
'No Signal' on recorder display. Check cable connection. Change VCR tracking. Input signal may be poor.
'Timer overlaps existing timer'. Change one of the recordings or delete one.
'This will clear time shift bar'. Action requires clearing time shift buffer. Contents not marked for recording will be deleted.
