Power Switch (1): Turns the unit on and off.

SCROLL (2): Scrolls through long names in CD text.

TIME (3): Switches display modes (elapsed track time, remaining track time, total disc playing time).

DISPLAY/CHARA (4): Switches display modes (disc title, artist name, track title) and character case.

MONITOR (5): Monitors selected input and displays digital source information.

OPEN/CLOSE (6): Opens or closes the disc tray.

RECORD (7): Enters record-pause mode for input level setting.

REC MUTE (8): Records a blank section on the disc.

DIGITAL REC LEVEL / Jog dial (9): Sets digital recording level, skips tracks, selects menu options, cycles CD text characters, selects tracks to erase. Push to start playback, input track numbers, select CD text characters, confirm settings.

ANALOG REC LEVEL (10): Sets analog input recording level.

ERASE (11): Starts erasing tracks or re-initializes the disc.

FINALIZE (12): Starts disc finalization process.

AUTO/MANUAL (13): Switches between automatic and manual track numbering.

INPUT SELECTOR (14): Switches between analog, optical digital, and coaxial digital inputs.

Remote sensor (15): Remote control receiver.

Character display (16): Displays disc information.

/ REC BALANCE (17): Fast-reverse/forward playback, sets left/right input levels, moves cursor.

/ (18): Play, pause, resume, start recording from record-pause.

NAME (19): Cycles through CD text naming options.

(20): Stops playback or recording.

SYNCHRO (21): Starts recording upon input signal detection.

MENU/DELETE (22): Cycles preference menu options, deletes characters.

PHONES jack (23): For private listening or monitoring.

LEVEL (24): Adjusts headphone volume.
