Basic Operation

Playing LDs (P.12)

  1. Press POWER.
  2. Select NORMAL MODE if needed.
  3. Press OPEN/CLOSE.
  4. Load disc.
  5. Press PLAY.

Playing DVDs, CDs, and Video CDs with No PBC (P.13)

  1. Press POWER.
  2. Select NORMAL MODE if needed.
  3. Press DVD/CD/VIDEO CD OPEN/CLOSE.
  4. Load disc.
  5. Press PLAY.

Playing Video CDs (with PBC) (P.14)

  1. Perform steps 1-7 from page 13.
  2. Press PLAY.
  3. Use menu or digit buttons to select.

Chapter (Track) Skip Forward/Skip Back (P.16)

  • Press NEXT to skip forward.
  • Press PREV to skip back.
  • Press FWD to fast forward to a location.
  • Press REV for fast return to a location.

Stopping Playback & Switching Power OFF (P.17)

  1. Press STOP.
  2. Press OPEN/CLOSE to eject disc.
  3. Press POWER to turn off.

Continuing Playback from where you Stopped (P.18)

  • Press LAST MEMORY during playback to memorize the stop point.
  • Press POWER OFF or STOP.
  • Press LAST MEMORY during STOP to resume playback.

Troubleshooting and error codes

1. The disc table doesn't stay in even when it is closed.
Edges of the disc are dirty. The disc is not correctly loaded in the disc table. The region number is different. There's condensation inside the player. The TV system setting is not compatible with the application region.

2. Playback is not possible.
This player is compatible with copy guard analog copy protect system. Some discs may feature a copy protect signal. Playing this kind of disc with some TVs may result in horizontal lines in part of the picture and other picture defects, but this does not mean the player is malfunctioning.

3. The picture is unclear during DVD play.
This player is compatible with copy guard analog copy protect system. Some discs may feature a copy protect signal. If you record this kind of disc on a VCR and play it back, or play this kind of disc through a VCR, the copy guard system prevents normal playback.

4. If I record a DVD on a VCR and play it back, or play a DVD through a VCR, the picture is unclear.

5. Even if you play a Video CD with Playback Control, there's no menu displayed. Detailed still images are not possible.
The selected operation is not possible with that disc. Press the STOP button, and then press PLAY again.
6. The mark appears on screen.
The rear panel control input jack on the player is being used. You are too far from the player. Or the angle between the remote control and the remote control reception window is too large. The remote control's batteries are dead. Some TVs with wireless remote capability operate incorrectly with this player's remote control.

7. The picture stops, and operation buttons do not function.
Plugs are not pushed in sufficiently, or plugs are disconnected. Connection plugs and jacks are dirty. Audio cable connection is incorrect. Stereo amp operation is incorrect. (In particular, check that input selection for CD, LD etc. is correct.) The player is connected to a stereo amp's PHONE input jack. Play is paused. Digital output is set for 96kHz. Digital output may not be possible with certain discs.

8. The remote control doesn't operate.
In the KARAOKE mode, DVD, CD and Video CD analog sound volume level is low. DVD sound volume level may sound lower than other discs, but this is due to the disc's recording system, and is not due to the player malfunctioning.

9. TV and other components operate incorrectly.
10. There's no sound. Sound is distorted.

Karaoke operations
13. GUIDE VOCAL volume level is low.
The GUIDE VOCAL volume knob is set to a low level. The mic is not connected to the Mic control jack.

ONE-TOUCH KARAOKE is ON. The GUIDE VOCAL volume knob is set to a low level.

15. Even when playing a multiplex disc, the singer's voice cannot be heard.
