Operating this unit

Basic Operations

  • Removing the front panel: Press the detach button and push the front panel upward and pull it toward you.
  • Re-attaching the front panel: Slide the front panel to the left, then press the right side until it is firmly seated.
  • Turning the unit on: Press SRC/OFF.
  • Turning the unit off: Press and hold SRC/OFF.
  • Selecting a source: Press SRC/OFF to cycle through TUNER, CD, USB/iPod, AUX.
  • Adjusting the volume: Turn M.C.

Tuner

  • Selecting a band: Press BAND/ until the desired band is displayed.
  • Recalling preset stations: Press ◄ or ►.
  • Manual tuning: Press ◄ or ►.
  • Seeking: Press and hold ◄ or ►, then release.

CD/CD-R/CD-RW and USB storage devices

  • Playing a CD/CD-R/CD-RW: Insert the disc.
  • Ejecting a CD/CD-R/CD-RW: Press ▲.
  • Playing songs on a USB storage device: Open the USB port cover, plug in the device.
  • Stopping playback: Disconnect the USB storage device.

iPod

  • Playing songs on an iPod: Open the USB port cover, connect an iPod.
  • Selecting an album: Press 1/ or 2/V.

Advanced operations

  • Repeat play: Press 6 to select repeat range (ALL, ONE, FLD).
  • Random play: Press 5/ to turn random play on or off.
  • Pause: Press 4/PAUSE.
  • Sound retriever: Press 3/S.Rtrv to enhance audio.

Function settings

  • Access the main menu by pressing M.C. Navigate to FUNCTION to adjust settings like REPEAT, SHUFFLE, LINK PLAY, PAUSE, AUDIO BOOK, S.RTRV.

Audio adjustments

  • Access the main menu by pressing M.C. Navigate to AUDIO to adjust FAD/BAL, PRESET EQ, TONE CTRL, LOUD, SUB.W, SLA.

Initial settings

  • Press and hold SRC/OFF until the unit turns off, then press SRC/OFF again to access the initial settings menu. Adjust CLOCK SET, CLOCK, FM STEP, AUTO-PI, AUX, USB PNP, REAR-SP, PREOUT, DEMO, SCROLL, TITLE, PW SAVE.

Illumination color settings (DEH-3400UB only)

  • Press COLOR to select KEY COLOR, DISP COLOR, or BOTH COLOR. Customize colors using R, G, B values.

Dimmer setting

  • Press and hold the dimmer button to adjust brightness.

Using an AUX source

  • Insert the stereo mini plug into the AUX input jack and select AUX as the source using SRC/OFF.

Sound muting

  • Mutes automatically during cell phone calls or when Pioneer navigation unit provides voice guidance.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Never wire the negative speaker cable directly to ground. Never band together negative cables of multiple speakers.
The repeat play range changes unexpectedly.Depending on the repeat play range, the selected range may change when another folder or track is being selected or during fast forwarding/reversing.Select the repeat play range again.
A subfolder is not played back.Subfolders can not be played back when FLD (folder repeat) is selected.Select another repeat play range.

  • Connect a USB Mass Storage Class compliant device.
  • Disconnect your device and replace it with a compatible USB storage device.
CHECK USBThe USB connector or USB cable has short-circuited.Check that the USB connector or USB cable is not caught in something or damaged.
CHECK USBThe connected USB storage device consumes more than 500 mA (maximum allowable current).Disconnect the USB storage device and do not use it. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, then to ACC or ON and then connect only compliant USB storage devices.
CHECK USBThe iPod operates correctly but does not charge.Make sure the connection cable for the iPod has not shorted out (e.g., not caught in metal objects). After checking, turn the ignition switch OFF and back ON, or disconnect the iPod and reconnect.

  • Turn the ignition switch OFF and back ON.
  • Disconnect the USB storage device.
  • Change to a different source. Then, return to the USB source.
