BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Wash portafilter, sieves, and tamper.
  • Clean by running the appliance without coffee.
  • Clean the steam system.

AUTO SHUTOFF

  • After 25 minutes of inactivity, the espresso maker will shut off.
  • To turn it back on, move the control to the 'on' position or turn the steam/hot water control.

FILLING

  • Remove and fill the water tank.
  • Refit the water tank.

MAKING ESPRESSO

  • Fill the portafilter with coffee.
  • Tamp the coffee.
  • Fit the portafilter into the machine.
  • Place cup(s) under the outlet.
  • Switch on and wait for the 'ready' light.
  • Move control to brew.
  • Stop brewing manually.

STEAM/HOT WATER FUNCTIONS

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No espresso is made Water tank empty Fill the water tank
Portafilter or sieve is blocked Remove and clean
Espresso leaks from around the portafilter Machine needs descaling Descale the machine
The portafilter is not fitted correctly Remove and refit the portafilter. Make sure it is turned fully to the right until it won't turn any further.
Portafilter can't be fitted Too much coffee in the sieve Use the supplied measure/tamper as directed.
Coffee tastes weak Debris around the portafilter fitting Clean the area where the portafilter fits
Not enough coffee in the sieve Use the supplied measure/tamper as directed.
Grind is too fine or coarse Grind the coffee to the correct consitency
Coffee too loose in sieve Tamp the coffee down with more pressure
Light slowly pulsing on and off This is normal and occurs when the machine in heating up -
Light flashing rapidly Steam /hot water control in the open position Turn the steam/hot water control to the closed (O) position
