Basic Operation Summary

  • Charging the Battery: Before first use, charge the battery by connecting the USB cable to the AC adapter and camera.
  • Turning On/Off: Press the POWER button to turn the camera on or off. An initial setup screen appears for first-time use.
  • Initial Setup: Follow on-screen prompts to select language, time zone, date/time, and date format.
  • Shooting Mode: Use the MODE button to select various shooting modes (Smart Auto, Program, DIS, Scene, Movie).
  • Taking Photos: Press the shutter button halfway to focus, and fully to capture the image.

Troubleshooting and error codes

The subject's eyes appear red.
  • Set the flash option to Red-eye or Red-eye Fix. (p. 41)

Photos have dust spots.
