Instructions

  1. Set up the camera driver: Install the camera driver from the Application software CD-ROM before connecting the camera to a PC via USB cable (p.79).
  2. Take a picture: Basic picture-taking instructions (p.16).
  3. Insert the USB cable: Connect the supplied USB cable to the PC and the camera (p.81).
  4. Check the camera's power: Turn on the camera using the power button.
  5. Check [Removable Disk]: Open Windows Explorer and search for [Removable Disk] (p.82).

Getting to Know your camera

  • Read the manual thoroughly before use.
  • If service is required, bring the camera and malfunction cause to the A/S center.
  • Check camera operation before important events to avoid disappointment.
  • Keep the manual in a safe place.
  • Use the supplied USB cable for transferring images to a PC. Using a card reader may damage images.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Case Issue Solution
Case 1 USB cable is not connected or it is not the supplied USB cable. Connect the supplied USB cable.
Case 2 The camera is not recognised by your PC. Install the camera driver correctly. Turn off the camera, remove the USB cable, plug it in again, and then turn on the camera.
Case 3 Unexpected error during file transfer. Turn the camera power off and on again. Transfer the file again.
Case 4 Problem connecting to the PC through a USB hub. Connect the camera directly to the PC if possible.
Case 5 Other USB cables are connected to the PC. Disconnect other USB cables and connect only one USB cable to the camera.
Case 6 Unknown Devices or Other Devices entries with a yellow question mark or exclamation mark in Device Manager. Right-click the entry, select "Remove". Restart the PC and connect the camera again. For Windows 98SE, remove the camera driver, restart the PC, and reinstall.
Case 7 Security programs may prevent the camera from being recognized. Stop the security programs and connect the camera. Refer to security program instructions for temporary disabling.
Case 8 Camera connected to the front USB port of the computer. Connect the camera to the USB port located on the back of the computer.
