Basic Operation
- DVD Playback: Insert a DVD, ensure the DVD deck is selected, and press Play. The disc menu may appear if it has one.
- VHS Playback: Insert a VHS tape, and press Play. Tapes without a Record Safety Tab can be set to play automatically.
- TV Tuner Operations: Use the TV/VCR button to switch between TV and VCR tuners. Channel Up/Down and 0-9 buttons select channels.
- System Setup: Use the SETUP button to access menus for language, clock, channel setup, DVD setup, and VCR setup. Auto Setup automatically configures channels and clock.
- Recording: Insert a blank VHS tape and press REC to start recording. OTR (One-Touch Recording) adds time in 30-minute increments. Timer Recording allows programming up to 16 events.
Troubleshooting and error codes
| Problem | Solution |
| Tape Missing | Insert a videotape. |
| Tape Missing Tab | Insert a cassette with the Record Safety Tab intact, or place a small piece of adhesive tape over the opening to permit recording. |
| Not Ready | The VCR deck is not in Stop mode. Press Stop to stop the VCR deck. |
| Overlapping Events | If two events overlap, you will be prompted to either delete one or allow them to overlap. The first event will be completely recorded, then the next event will start. |
