Warranty Information

Limited warranty covers non-expendable parts for two years, battery for 90 days, frame for five years, and front axle for ten years.

Throttle/Choke Control:

Lever on left fender controls engine speed and choke (push forward for choke). Always keep in FAST for cutting deck engagement.

Ignition Switch:

Left fender. Turn key clockwise to START, release to ON when engine fires. Turn counterclockwise to OFF/STOP to stop the engine.

Clutch-Brake Pedal:

Left side. Depress partially to slow tractor. Depress fully to stop. Must be fully depressed to start engine.

Shift Lever:

Below seat. FORWARD, NEUTRAL, REVERSE. Brake pedal must be fully depressed and tractor stopped before shifting.

Speed Control Lever:

Right side of steering console. Depress clutch-brake pedal and move lever to adjust ground speed. Release into notch to maintain speed.

Parking Brake:

Fully depress clutch-brake pedal, move speed control lever to parking brake position, release clutch-brake pedal.

PTO (Blade Engage) Lever:

Right fender. Move forward to engage blades, rearward to disengage. MUST be OFF to start engine.

Deck Lift Lever:

Right fender. Move lever left to adjust cutting height.

Starting the Engine:

Insert key, engage parking brake, PTO OFF, activate choke, turn key to START (no more than 10 sec.), release to ON. Deactivate choke after engine starts.

Stopping the Engine:

Disengage PTO, turn key to STOP, remove key.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Cause Remedy
Engine won't start 1. PTO Lever engaged
2. Parking brake not set
3. Spark plug wire disconnected
4. Throttle control in wrong position
5. Choke not engaged
6. Fuel tank empty or fuel stale
7. Fuel line blocked
8. Spark plugs faulty
9. Engine flooded
10. Fuse blown
11. Safety interlock switch not engaged
1. Place PTO Lever in OFF.
2. Set parking brake.
3. Connect spark plug wire.
4. Move throttle to FAST.
5. Pull choke control out.
6. Fill tank with fresh fuel.
7. Clean fuel line, replace filter.
8. Clean/gap or replace spark plugs.
9. Start with throttle in FAST.
10. Replace fuse(s).
11. Ensure operator is seated, deck chute/cover is installed correctly.
Engine runs erratically 1. Unit running with choke on
2. Spark plug wires loose
3. Fuel line clogged or fuel stale
4. Fuel cap vent obstructed
5. Water/dirt in fuel system
6. Air filter dirty
1. Push choke control in.
2. Connect spark plug wires.
3. Clean fuel line, fill tank with fresh fuel, replace filter.
4. Unclog vent or replace cap.
5. Drain tank, fill with fresh fuel.
6. Replace or clean air filter element.
Engine overheats 1. Low oil level
2. Restricted airflow
1. Fill oil to correct level.
2. Clean cooling fins and blower housing.
Engine stalls at high RPM 1. Spark plug gap too small
2. Spark plug fouled, worn, or incorrect gap
1. Re-gap or replace spark plugs.
Engine idles poorly 1. Spark plug fouled, worn, or incorrect gap
2. Air filter dirty
1. Replace spark plugs, set gap.
2. Replace or clean air filter.
Excessive vibration 1. Loose or off-center blade
2. Damaged or bent blade
1. Tighten blade and spindle.
2. Replace blade.
Mower not bagging clippings 1. Engine speed too slow 1. Move throttle to FAST position.
Uneven cut 1. Mower deck not level
2. Blade not sharp
3. Uneven tire pressure
1. Adjust deck side-to-side.
2. Sharpen or replace blade.
3. Check tire pressure.
