Easy Camera Recording with Full Auto Mode

  1. Remove the lens cap.
  2. Hold down the Lock button and slide the Power switch to CAMERA.
  3. Ensure "AUTO" is displayed on the monitor.
  4. Press the REC START/STOP button to begin recording.

To Pause Recording

Press the REC START/STOP button again.

To Turn the Power Off

Slide the Power switch to OFF.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Possible cause Suggested solution
No power Safety devices are functioning. Set Power switch to OFF and remove battery pack; wait for two seconds, then re-install battery pack and turn on power (p. 11).
Battery pack is not charged. Charge battery pack sufficiently (p. 10).
Power source is not properly connected. Connect power source properly (pp. 11-13).
Power goes off soon after coming on. Depleted battery pack. Use a fully charged battery pack (pp. 10, 11).
Dew in VIEWCAM. Wait until dew dries (p. 6).
Power on but no image on monitor. VIEWCAM is in VCR mode. Set Power switch to OFF and then back to CAMERA.
Cannot record. Erasure protection hole on video cassette is covered. Slide red projection to open hole (p. 48).
Poor colour Inappropriate picture adjustments Adjust picture (p. 44).
Inappropriate scene setting (Scene Menu)/picture effect selected. Select appropriate scene setting/picture effect (pp. 42, 43).
Fuzzy picture Dust or other foreign matter on lens. Clean lens.
Not properly focused. Adjust focus manually or set VIEWCAM to Auto Focus mode (pp. 31, 41).
Monitor picture too dark. "SPORT" selected for scene setting (Scene Menu). Select "SCENE MENU" (Auto mode) for scene setting (p. 42).
No image appears on connected TV screen. Improperly connected to TV. Reconnect properly (p. 22).
Video input channel on TV or TV channel is not selected properly. Select the video input channel or TV channel properly (p. 22).
Poor colour Inappropriate picture adjustments Adjust picture (p. 44).
VIEWCAM does not play back in colour on connected TV. Dirty video heads Call for service.
Video noise in image. Worn video heads Call for service.
Old or worn tape Use a new cassette (p. 48).
Infrared remote control does not function. "REMOTE" menu item is set to "OFF". Set "REMOTE" menu item to "ON" (p. 38).
Remote control lithium battery has run down. Replace remote control lithium battery with a new one (p. 24).
Remote control used beyond operating range. Use remote control within operating range (p. 38).
Intense daylight falling on VIEWCAM remote sensor. Protect remote sensor from exposure to intense daylight (p. 38).
Obstacle between remote control and VIEWCAM remote sensor. Remove obstacle or use remote control from different angle (p. 38).
Cassette cannot be inserted. Cassette is not right side up, or is backwards. Check cassette positioning and reinsert (p. 14).
Cassette will not eject. VIEWCAM is recording. Press REC START/STOP (or STOP) button to stop tape, and try again (p. 18).
Battery pack cannot be ejected. Battery pack inserted in an incorrect manner. Call for service.
No tape movement in Fast Forward mode. Tape already completely wound. Rewind tape to desired point (p. 21).
No tape movement in Rewind mode. Tape already completely rewound. Fast forward tape to desired point (p. 21).
Display automatically changes in Camera mode. VIEWCAM is in Demo mode. Set Power switch to OFF and then back to CAMERA (p. 49).
