Warranty Information

This is a limited warranty for the SHARP VL-NZ50U camcorder, covering defects in workmanship and materials for one year.

Attaching the Battery Pack

  1. Ensure the Power switch is OFF.
  2. Align the mark on the battery with the mark on the camcorder and slide until it locks.

Charging the Battery Pack

  1. Attach the battery pack and ensure the Power switch is OFF.
  2. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet and then into the DC input jack. The charge indicator will light up.
  3. The indicator turns off when charging is complete.
  4. Remove the DC plug and AC adapter.

Inserting a Cassette

  1. Attach power source, release cassette compartment door, and open it.
  2. Insert cassette with window facing outwards and erase protect tab upwards.
  3. Press the PUSH/押す mark until the holder clicks.
  4. Wait for the holder to retract, then close the door.

Easy Camera Recording

  1. Insert a cassette.
  2. Hold down the Lock button and set the Power switch to CAMERA.
  3. Press the REC START/STOP button to begin recording.

Playback

  1. Hold down the Lock button and set the Power switch to VCR.
  2. Press < or ▷ to rewind or fast forward.
  3. Press △ to begin playback.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Symptom Possible cause Suggested solution
Cannot rewind or fast forward tape. Position at beginning or end of tape. Rewind or fast forward tape to desired point (p. 19).
Video noise in image. Dirty video heads. Call for service (p. 60) or use a commercially available cleaning tape (p. 55).
Old or worn tape. Use a new cassette.
Cassette will not eject. Power source is not properly connected. Connect power source properly (pp. 7, 9).
Battery pack is not charged. Charge battery pack sufficiently (p. 8).
No image on monitor. Camcorder is recording. Stop tape and try again (p. 16).
Backlight has been turned off. Turn on backlight (p. 48).
Fluorescent lamp has burned out. Call for service (p. 60).
Monitor picture is hard to see. Inappropriate picture adjustments. Adjust picture (p. 48).
CHARGE indicator flashes in red when charging battery pack. AC adapter or battery pack may have malfunctioned. Call for service (p. 60).
Cannot edit to connected VCR. Audio/video cable is not properly connected. Connect audio/video cable properly (p. 43).
