Main Unit (Front Panel)

  1. Power Button: Turns the unit on/off.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Flow Chart # Symptom Troubleshooting Steps
1 The power cannot be turned on. Check fuse. If normal, check for leaks or short circuits in the primary circuit components. If not normal, check the D +5V line and then each rectifying circuit of the secondary circuit.
2 The fuse blows out. Check for leaking or shorted primary components. Check for shorted rectifying diodes or circuits on the secondary side. Replace fuse after servicing.
3 When the output voltage fluctuates. Check photo coupler operation. If abnormal, check IC2, IC3 and their periphery. If normal, check IC1, E2, D6 and their periphery.
4 Buzz sound in vicinity of power circuit. Check for short-circuits on rectifying diodes and related circuits in the secondary side.
5 -21V is not outputted. Check if -21V is supplied to the anode of D8. If not, check D8 and periphery. If yes, check for leaks or short-circuits on the loaded circuit.
6 P-ON (+12V) is not outputted. Check if +12V is supplied to the cathode of D9. If not, check D9, B1 and periphery. If yes, check E7, E8 and periphery.
7 Fluorescent display tube does not light up. Check 5V supply to IC1, -21V supply to IC1, 500kHz oscillation at IC1 Pin 26. Check filament voltage and negative voltage. If all are normal, replace the fluorescent display tube.
8 Key operation is not functioning. Check key switch contact points and installation. Check if voltage increases when pressing switches. Replace IC1 if necessary.
9 No operation from remote control. Check 5V supply to IR receiver. Check for "L" pulse output from IR receiver and to CN4. Replace IR receiver or remote control.
10 Disc tray cannot be opened/closed. Check control voltage to IC1 Pin 10. Refer to Flow Chart No. 12 or 15. Replace OPEN/CLOSE button or related PWB.
11 Disc tray cannot be opened/closed. Replace DVD Servo PWB or DVD Mecha. If no improvement, Original DVD Servo PWB is poor.
12 [No Disc] indicated (Focus error). Replace DVD Servo PWB or DVD Mecha. If no improvement, Original DVD Servo PWB is poor.
13 [No Disc] indicated (Focus servo not functioning). Replace DVD Servo PWB or DVD Mecha. If no improvement, Original DVD Servo PWB is poor.
14 [No Disc] indicated (Laser beam does not light up). Replace DVD Servo PWB or DVD Mecha. If no improvement, Original DVD Servo PWB is poor.
15 Picture and sound do not operate normally. Replace DVD Servo PWB or DVD Mecha. If no improvement, Original DVD Servo PWB is poor.
16 Picture does not appear normally. Check video signals at specific pins and output terminals. Check lines between Q12-Q16, Q25 and U13 pins.
17 Audio is not outputted normally. Check analog audio signals at IC U20 and IC U2. Check output terminals. Replace IC U20, U13, or DVD Mecha. Replace IC U2.
