Learn About the Printer

Printer configurations: Options include a 650-sheet duo tray, or a combination of 650-sheet duo and 550-sheet trays, or up to three 550-sheet trays.

Using the control panel:

  • Power button: Turn on/off, set to Sleep mode, wake from Sleep/Hibernate.
  • Display: View messages, supply status, set up and operate.
  • Indicator light: Shows printer status (Off, Solid blue, Blinking blue, Blinking red, Solid amber, Blinking amber).

Selecting paper:

  • Use appropriate, new, undamaged paper.
  • Know the printable side.
  • Do not use hand-trimmed paper.
  • Do not mix sizes, types, or weights in the same tray.
  • Do not use coated papers unless designed for electrophotographic printing.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Indicator light Printer status
Off The printer is off.
Solid blue The printer is ready.
Blinking blue The printer is printing or processing data.
Blinking red The printer requires user intervention.
Solid amber The printer is in Sleep mode.
Blinking amber The printer is in Deep Sleep or Hibernate mode.
