Why can't I detect the access point on my computer?
  • Confirm the access point is powered on.
  • Confirm the antenna indicator is on.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Confirm your computer is enabled for the wireless LAN.
  • Detect the access point by following the steps below: Click start – My Computer. Select My Network Places in Other Places; then, View network connections in Network Tasks. Right-click Wireless Network Connection; then, click Disable. Right-click Wireless Network Connection; then, click Enable.
  • When you have more than one access points, your computer may be connected to other than right one you want to access. Follow the steps bellow. Right-click (+) icon on the taskbar; then, click View Available Wireless Networks. Select the desired network in the Available networks list; then, click Connect button.
Why can't I connect to the network via an access point?
  • Confirm Any available network (access point preferred) is selected in Networks to access of Advanced dialog box.
  • Confirm the ESSID of your computer matches the ESSID of the access point you want to communicate with.
  • Confirm the WEP key is correctly entered if the WEP security of the access point is enabled.
Why can't I communicate with other computers with a wireless LAN?
  • Confirm each computer is enabled for wireless LAN.
  • Confirm Computer-to-computer (ad hoc) networks only is selected in Networks to Access of Advanced dialog box of each computer.
  • Adjust the distance between the computers by bringing your computer closer to others and remove any obstructions that may impede the communication; then, try to connect again.
  • Confirm the IP address and the subnet mask of each computer are set correctly.
  • Confirm the WEP key is correctly entered if the WEP security of other devices, which you want to communicate with, is enabled.
