Improper use will invalidate the warranty.

  • Making a phone call: Dialling with digit keys, accepting/rejecting calls, redialling numbers, and handling calls during a call (swap, conference, transfer).
  • Addressbook: Storing, reading, searching, and editing contact entries.
  • Messages (SMS): Reading, composing, and sending text messages using T9 input.
  • Internet (WAP): Accessing internet services, settings, and profiles.
  • MP3 Player: Playing music files.
  • Dictaphone: Recording and playing back voice memos.
  • Calendar: Managing appointments and events.
  • SIM card management: Inserting, removing, and managing SIM card functions.

Troubleshooting and error codes

Problem Possible cause Possible remedy
Phone cannot be switched on. On/Off key not pressed long enough. Flat battery Battery contacts dirty Battery in total discharge (charge icon no longer displayed). Press On/Off key for at least two seconds. Charge battery. Check charging indicator in the display. Clean contacts. Charge battery. It may take up to two hours for the charge icon to appear.
Standby time too short. Frequent use of the organizer and games. Speed search active. Display illumination on. Unintentional keystrokes (and illumination). Restrict use if necessary. Deactivate speed search (see p. 58). Switch off display illumination (see p. 58). Activate key lock.
Charging fault (charge icon not displayed or flashing) Battery totally discharged. Temperature out of range: +5 °C to +40 °C Contact problem Charge battery. Make sure the ambient temperature is right, wait a while, then recharge. Check power supply and connection to the phone. Check battery contacts, clean them if necessary, then insert battery again.
SIM error SIM card not correctly inserted SIM card contacts dirty SIM card with wrong voltage SIM card damaged Make sure that the SIM card is correctly inserted. The card carrier must engage (see p. 7). Clean the SIM card with a dry cloth. Use 3 V SIM cards only. Inspect the damage. Return SIM card to Service Provider.
